    Beeswax and Olive Oil

I use than on occasion for patch lube. I just get me a small tin lidded can of some kind. Put in on a non burnable/scorchable surface, pour in a little olive oil and throw in a few chuncks of beeswax. ( I have a pretty good supply). And then heat it up with my $12.95 heat gun special from Harbor...

NB, That piece was a gift to me from my old mentor. It is a smooth bore with front & rear sights. Approx. .58 calibre. I suspect it may have began life rifled. Conversion from flint to perc. Lock marked H. Elwell, Warrwnted. Carey, Sellers, and Dillin list the fellow in places such as...

    smooth rifle photos please,,,,,,,,,,

I have since removed the sling and swivels on the above piece as I found it just got in my way more than I actually used it. I prefer it much better in the woods and on the trail sans sling.

    1803 Harper's Ferry Rifle

Quite possibly so. Lots of information. I would add, not that it matters just a whole lot, but I’m still of the school that thinks there is no model 1800. That it’s still a model of 1803. :)
