    First Ruger Old Army questions...

Blackpowderart, Did you have a chance to shoot the Old Army? I'm curious how it shot with the extended ram and 30gr loads

    How hard to tighten nipples

I've been using white lubriplate grease, nipples just snugged. And I don't remove them when I clean, no need to. But I only use hot water, no soap.

    Revolver paper cartridges

Found it. Search ROLLING PAPERS FOR COMBUSTIBLE CARTRIDGES here. It's 4 pages of great info. Also search PAPER CARTRIDGES. This group has a method for everyone, you should be able to find what you need to know.

    Revolver paper cartridges

Sturmkatze, Look through the old posts here, there's quite a bit of info. This past winter/spring, in one of these threads, I mentioned doing a thread on what I'd been up to and there was a flood of replies w/pictures. So many that I had nothing to add, and I learned some in the process. I'll...

    First Ruger Old Army questions...

Religious? No, not really. It's too much fiddling around. There's enough to do already when loading, I just use enough more powder to get some compression and go with it. I don't have a hard spot with those that do, but it's not for me. If it's working for you, by all means, keep it up. I do...

    Cleaning

Captain, I dribble HOT(about 120°) tap water(no soap, not necessary) on the back of the cylinder while I scrub around the nipples with a toothbrush. Blow off the excess while still hot, and oil with another toothbrush loaded with a drop or two of your favorite oil. That's it, fast and effective...

    Do they make uberti 1858 5.5inch 36cal?

This is very true. These are replicas, they'll never end up in the Smithsonian. Might as well shoot em and enjoy em, that's what they're for. Their value will never climb like originals. Right now I'm working on building my perfect pet 1860, with 2 barrel assemblies and a steel trigger guard if...

    First Ruger Old Army questions...

Blackpowderart, I have an ROA of about the same vintage as yours. Great guns! For grips, anything made for a Blackhawk (not Super Blackhawk) will fit, but some may need fitting. I've been using a set of curly maple grips made by a late friend, he knew his stuff. They're extended below the...

    Do they make uberti 1858 5.5inch 36cal?

Blackpowderart, Why not try to scare up a good buy on an Uberti and cut it down? There's plenty of info out there, if you're handy you should be able to have anything your heart desires.

    1858 Remington Grip Strip

Nice job, Van, big improvement. It's hard to believe they would cover up a nice piece of walnut like that.
