    Long Range Pistol Shooting

I've shot my Pietta 58 Remington to 200 yds. I was having an easier time getting close to and hitting my target, a helium cylinder. Guy with a modern semiauto fad thingies couldn't keep up, and I know he can shoot Handguns. Shot my last deer at 75-80 paces with my old army, one and done.

    No patches/wads for revolvers?

Bad Karma, I was looking at the accurate moulds, the 225L, 220S, and 245C. Can you please give your opinions of them for deer hunting? They'll be used mostly in my 60 army, Rogers and Spencer, and an Uberti Remington carbine. I could get 2 designs in one mould, even all 3, but don't want to...

    No patches/wads for revolvers?

I've been dip lubing my conicals and setting them on foil or wax paper to cool, it's actually way faster than making wads. That drawing of the conical with the huge grease groove should shoot clean all day. I've set my 1860 up with a .002 cylinder gap, it shoots clean with even less lube and is...

SOLD Colt marked 1851 NAVY squareback ASM New old stock 1982 manufacture

So very true. Enjoy your time with them, they turn into teenagers way too soon

Anyone ever seen a Navy Arms .31?

I would love to have an Uberti like that baby dragoon in the catalog photo. Too bad they're only 4inch barrels

Finally got to burn some powder in my 1851 navy

Thanks Ballshooter, those will work. Whitworth, they're something, aren't they? Navies were my favorite til I bought a 60 army. Now I love em both👍

Finally got to burn some powder in my 1851 navy

Thanks. My London Navy never shot that well, it's got an overly large forcing cone. I'm going to line the barrel, I'm hoping for accuracy like yours. Say, when you have the barrel off, could you take a picture of the forcing cone and post it here? That would be a big help.

    What brand Navy, btw?

Wow, that's great shooting! Could you please give us the particulars of the load?

Appropriate cylinder gap for Colt revolvers

Right, Taylor's are the old R&D I believe, they've always recommended black powder level loads(14000psi). I'm thinking we would need a Kirst cylinder to keep things on a level playing field. Probably in ACP flavor. I'm not looking to wreck my Remington, but I am curious. Besides, if it...

Appropriate cylinder gap for Colt revolvers

Mike and Mr De Land have been debating the open top/top strap dispute for a while. I'm curious, Mike has claimed the Colts are stronger than a Remington and Mr De Land has compared the open top to MODERN full frame revolvers. The debate is Colt v. Remington, not Colt v. Freedom Arms. Has anyone...

Paper cartridges, paper cartridges... (Think the old song Paper Roses).

Yes, but that's not the actual purpose of the lube. It's to keep barrel fouling soft. If your bullets are swaging into the chambers and don't back out when fired, they are correct. As far as adding lead, you would have to lap out the mould. A sizer smallers bullets down, not up. No need to size...

    Ruger Old Army

Skeen, Beautiful deer, and nice shooting! It sure is a good feeling inviting a deer home for the winter, using a black powder revolver. I hunted all season with my Uberti 1860 Army loaded with conicals. I'm going to be hard pressed to hunt with my modern revolvers from now on.

Paper cartridges, paper cartridges... (Think the old song Paper Roses).

My Lee mould is the modern one, not one of eras gone's. I've shot it in an Uberti 51 Navy loading from the flask. I don't know if there's room for paper around the base to make a cartridge, I haven't tried it, but I have made paper cartridges with balls and RAW cig papers like these, I can tell...

Paper cartridges, paper cartridges... (Think the old song Paper Roses).

Trgt, I don't know about Eras Gone moulds, but Lee conicals fit great, and they shoot a bit better than balls in my cranky Uberti Navy

My Ball and Cap Revolving Belt Pistol of Naval Caliber Shooting Range Day Event

Very cool, and the 1860s are great, too.

    Pietta 1858 brass Army arrived.

I'll second slixshot nipples, Treso nipples too. #11s are way easier to find, get aftermarket nipples and you will be able to use either. I'll also second asking Pietta to make right on the grips. PM inbound

    Match worthy range kit

Nice loading stands. A couple guys I shoot with have made some real gems. As a woodworker by trade, I have to say, that's a primo range box, I've made toolboxes like that, his work is top shelf.

    NGD: Colt Dragoon

When I say handful, I've shot mine with 40 grs goex and a ball. They're a pussycat, my 60 army with conicals and a full load kicks harder. But dragoons are HEAVY! When you get to shoot it I think you'll like it.

    NGD: Colt Dragoon

    Wiscoaster, I have a new-to-me dragoon too, they're quite a handful, aren't they?!
