Gunners Mate Drinkwater reporting aboard, Sir.

Welcome. I was a GMG3, spent 3 years and 5 months on the USS Detroit AOE4, the last couple of years (or there abouts) I was the ships armourer. Back then we still had Thompsons and BARs though we also had M14s and M60s too, 1911s, some pump shotguns (I don’t remember the make/model) and a bunch...

Why are Uberti pistol boxes so flimsy?

I think that some firearms can definitely be considered an investment and the original cost doesn’t necessarily make them collectible, but a good price and an eye for the future can. Case in point, I was shooting an SKS at a range one day. A man came up to me and told me his SKS story. Remember...

Why are Uberti pistol boxes so flimsy?

What precludes one from shooting a gun just because they keep the box that it came in? If the writer was trying to make that point, he did a pretty poor job of doing so.

Help removing Nipples on an 1858 Remington!

I had read about holding the wrench in the vice, holding the cylinder in your hands and with the wrench secured in the vice and the cylinder pushed up against the wrench, you rotate the cylinder. Maybe I didn’t explain it well but it worked for me.

Be careful what you ask for...😬

Why are Uberti pistol boxes so flimsy?

If the price is right and I want the gun, of course a box isn't a factor...but to me, it would be desirable and a plus. I don't think us "boxers" would pass up a firearm that we want just because it did not have the original box with it but I also think most boxers would prefer that it was part...

    Did you all see this?

Don't search warrants have to specify just what they are searching for? It would be interesting to see what was specified on the warrant. I'm assuming that they are not a public record and therefore are not able to be viewed the Joe Citizen. Am I correct in these assumptions?

Why are Uberti pistol boxes so flimsy?

Your point is understood and I, sadly, don’t have 50 or 60 Pietta and/or Uberti revolvers. However I still keep the boxes of those I do own. I have boxes for every firearm I have purchased since my early 30’s, prior to that I wasn’t in my current location so many of those are nowhere to be...

Why are Uberti pistol boxes so flimsy?

What I have found most interesting about this thread is the apparent attitude of many of those who throw the box away. They seem to wear that as some kind of a badge of courage and look at those of us who keep our boxes as some kind of freaks. Hey, if you don't care to keep the box, don't, who...

Why are Uberti pistol boxes so flimsy?

It can get a bit overwhelming if you purchase a lot of firearms, especially long arms and perhaps it will only be your heirs who benefit, but to me it is worth the slight effort to keep a box. Its people like those in this thread who just pitch the boxes that make them all the more valuable for...

Why are Uberti pistol boxes so flimsy?

True but I keep my Uberti boxes too. I do prefer the plastic cases you get from some manufacturers and the price of the firearm in question doesn’t necessarily relate to the quality of the box or case that it comes in. I’ve noticed that newer handguns come in cases that will accept a padlock...

Why are Uberti pistol boxes so flimsy?

I keep them all but they can start to take up some room, that’s for sure. I look at that more as a collector thing. It means the most to those type of firearms owners. And, you never really know what might become collectible or not…that’s why I keep them.

Why are Uberti pistol boxes so flimsy?

It might not make a difference to you but to many people it does. Like it or not, it’s a fact.

Easy life for now, but hold on it won’t last much longer.

Huge Gun Show; Not a Cap In Sight

Agreed, if they can't take our firearms (which thankfully they haven't been able to do yet) then they will make ammo scarce and therefore even more expensive than it already is, if you can get it at all. A gun without ammo is a club.

Huge Gun Show; Not a Cap In Sight

I like and appreciate all types of firearms. Those who love our 2nd amendment need to stick together. Division does no one any good and is exactly what the powers that be want. I’ve got my fair share of “Star Wars guns” and I appreciate them for what they are. I’ve always preferred blu steel...

    Fixable or not?

++ TIME-SERT Official Threaded inserts for stripped threads, blown out sparkplugs, I have used Time-Set thread repair in the head of a motorcycle engine for sparkplugs. I don’t know if they would be applicable for use in a BP firearm but it would be something to consider. They are easy to use...
