Another bird hunt and something new

I sure do miss my old pointers from back in the day!! My buddy had a Brittany that just loved to point woodcocks. To say that dog hated my existence is the understatement of the century...........I just never could hit them crazy flying kamikazes. If I wasn't always on the lookout he would...

    Seasoning Cast Iron Pans

I switched from Flaxseed to avocado oil in mine and it seems to be working. I used bacon grease for years, don't know why I switched to be honest, I think I will go back to it, sure sounds better than Avocado oil for our crowd!! I had cataract surgery to replace the lenses in my eyes and...

    Traditions Crockett rifle

Dang, 600 for a new one. I almost balked at 450 when I bought mine. Glad I didn't though. I would put a wanted add on the classifieds here, you never know who may have something that they are willing to part with.

    Traditions Crockett rifle

I also made a full length brass ramrod for it and tapped both ends 10-32 because I was scared of breaking the wooden one. It adds a little weight to the gun but it won't break or bend. The stock aluminum one was hollow and bad to bend if you took just a little too much bite on it. Im a little...

    Traditions Crockett rifle

I am on my second one now, I stupidly sold the first one I had. Mine had a metal ramrod too but it also was the correct length. Didn't like the color and sound it made so I simply made a hickory one to replace it. Sounds like it was obstructed and not fully seating which could be the reason...

    Bag, horn and knife

Finished up my bag to go with the horn and knife that I made for my Kibler SMR. I have gained a ton of respect for you guys that sew these up by hand. My hands are feeling it right now! Im sure I will add to it but for now it is exactly how I wanted it. I wanted to make a kit completely...

Smoothbore gurus.......I need a little help with a roundball load

Total newbie to smoothbore roundball shooting!! I have only used shot on squirrels to this point but really want to use it for deer. I started with 70 grains of 2f, two thin cards, bare ball, and 2 more thin cards at 25 yards from a rest. Complete miss. I tried again thinking that I may have...

    Powder and primer horns

Thanks men! When I took the picture it was not actually finished. I have since put four black locust thorns in each band and six in the plug to hold things together. I didn't have any in the shop so I had to go hunting for them. I did use a dab of glue on the thorns when I put them in.

    Got to love flea markets!

Just wanderin around lookin for old stuff to keep my sanity in this crazy world. I saw this bag behind the glass partially covered with Barbie clothes and whatnot. A whole bag of 4 buckshot that the nice lady let me purchase for 5 bucks because of a half off sale. Now, what to do with it😁
