Sharpening a Patch-cutting Osborne Arch Punch?

Can you post a picture of a "ground-down hole saw"?

Sight Modification for 100 yard Zero with CW Rifled 58 cal. Muskets

Since this is an original Trenton musket, the drilled leaf would be the least modification affecting value. Does any provider supply a blank leaf or replacement rear sight?

Sight Modification for 100 yard Zero with CW Rifled 58 cal. Muskets

What techniques are available for establishing a 100-yards zero with the 200-yard battle sight of a 58 cal. CW rifled musket?

Shooting a European hunting rifle from 1780...

Thanks, Grenadier1758. Sounds very logical and it is a neat trick for protecting a patch with the deep rifling forms found in Germanic Jaegers that are susceptible to blow-by..

Shooting a European hunting rifle from 1780...

How did you come up with 40-grs? Let's say, not 20, not 30 but 40?

Sharpening a Patch-cutting Osborne Arch Punch?

I have 2 questions about sharpening systems that have been proposed. If you use wet/dry paper, do you "shoe shin" it around the bevel? If you sue a diamond stone, how do you stroke it? Along the bevel or up and down the bevel? As for lathe or drill presses, the Osborne punches are...

Sharpening a Patch-cutting Osborne Arch Punch?

Have been cutting patches with an Osborne arch punch using a cutting board backing; however, the punches are getting dull and need sharpening. Does anyone have a system to hand-sharpen an arch punch without screwing up the symmetry of the cutting edge? Osborne proved no help. Do you work only...

Are Alliant Black MZ and American Pioneer Powder the Same?

I understood that Pioneer Powder manufactured Alliant Black MZ. Does anyone know that for a fact? If so, we still have Black MZ in the Pioneer Powder line, so to speak.

Just ordered a .69cal bluderbuss. loads used?

I have the dubious distinction of being one of two competitors to shoot the one and only Blunderbuss NMLRA match at the winter nationals several years ago. We shot round ball at a stationary target and shot from a rocking buggy seat at a stationary metal target and later a round of trap. I was...

How common were the "Squirrel Calibers" before the 1800s?

I have any original "Plains" rifle made in Michigan with a 1" barrel bored .40 caliber. I have seen a number of half stock plains rifles with 1-1.25" barrels bored .40-.45 caliber. Why? Frankly I don't know. You would think the would be at least .50 caliber. Also have a beautiful, original...

Tell me about linen for RB patching

Another company that carries a lot of linen is www.denverfabrics.com. My life's lessons when buying linen: when you find a lot that works, immediately re-order 5-6 yards of it!! Too often I didn't and the finest linen I ever found simply disappeared.

Tell me about linen for RB patching

I use linen exclusively. Go to www.fabrics-store.com and try [email protected] for medium to a bit heavier plain linen with a high thread count. They're very helpful.
