    Anyone winter camping?

This is my place these days, it is Florida so you may not consider it winter camping but I am enjoying it.

    Should I Buy This?

I’m at an age and “station” in life where I can afford to buy shiny bobbles that catch my eye. But I buy things I can actually use as I do not have enough time left to justify “collecting” stuff. So, if a gun does not fit I am not buying it.

SOLD Reduced! Blue Capote Size: Large

Nice, somebody should be warm in that this winter. I have my Capote you made packed for a Rendezvous next week, it is supposed to be cooling off so maybe I will get to wear it!

    Mini in a smoothbore?????

No bueno. I found a mold that dropped a mini or sorts that was a nice tight fit in the bore of my .56 Renegade smoothbore. Key holed like mad and not in any kind of predictable direction. Big time fail, telling you what I know.

    Questions About Bare Ball Shooting

I have played with a home-made lubed Durafelt wad over powder, then bare ball and card to keep it all down. Also tried it just ball on powder and lubed wad on that. Don’t remember the results but I think they all worked at the 25 yard distance I was shooting at.

    Rear sight issues - pedersoli

I have raised dimples in the bottom of the dovetail slot with a pointed punch as well as peening the top edges down, both will tighten a sight. Although, these techniques may not be enough for your circumstance.

I found a sweet (modern) powder and ball holder for hunting.

AAGGGHH! Those Crocks, my eyes! Dang it man! Neat idea though.

A Lefty Caywood / Roby Northwest Gun

I like everything about that gun except the lock on the wrong side. ; )

Let's See What Your Handgun Loading Stand Looks Like

Love the felt padding at the bottom. May borrow the idea.

    My "Ugly Duckling" Renegade

I have a couple of ugly T/C rifles myself. A .54 Renegade that in addition to being ugly and having a suspect bore has been drilled and tapped for scope mounts. I scrubbed the bore and fitted a Musket nipple and figured it would make a fair Lee REAL bullet gun loaded with some ancient Pyrodex...

    Question for Horn builders

Bees wax solves a multitude of problems, and is HC to boot.

    Sitting Fox (Rubber) Stamp

Cool, somebody in the club turned up a Squirrel stamp somewhere that actually looks pretty good. Point of order on the ones referenced above, one of them appears to me to be a Hedgehog. My Mom was into Hedgehogs, lots of shapes and sizes decorated her home. I actually have her cast iron...

    Thompson Center .56

Yes, internet lore is they were a run for smoothbore-only muzzleloader hunting seasons in some Yankee State. Further unsubstantiated speculation is they were messed up .54 barrels so T/C salvaged them by cleaning out the rifling and boring them to the odd .56 caliber. I don’t know and have not...

    Chuck box and storage boxes

Modified this surplus rocket box and built some folding stands, a shelf and box. Figure the small box for canned goods and the lip around the rocket box lid keeps stuff on top from sliding off the back when opened. The larger box slides under the bed for clothes and sundry storage and the...

    Which Caliber SMR

I originally wanted a .40, but bought a skillfully assembled and finished .36 locally. I am very happy with the .36, plenty for Squirrel and targets. It is also cheap and easy to load with the 10 pounds .350 diameter Buck Shot I bought off a forum member.

    Efficient patch cutting

I use that same set-up to cut long strips for preluding and drying for breech cutting. Those rotary cutters and mats are nice.

    Thompson Center Hawken percussion rifle

Flood barrel with lube. Then I would try to blow it out with air first but would not mind shooting it out if pushed down closer to the breech. It is amazing what even a dab of 4f can do. Not admitting to having done it myself but have seen more than one dry ball shot out ahead of a very...

    Wad punch / drill

I started with the HF set and have augmented those with more in-between sizes off fleabay. I have even bought “metric” sizes to get just what I wanted.
