    JoAnns #40 cotton drill

Washed the #40 drill today in hot water and dried it hot. Pulled it out before it finished so it was not too wrinkled. By my Mic and technique I get .0175. As I recall that is thicker than my Red Ticking and about the same as the Blue Ticking. I will cut some of the drill into strips and...

    JoAnns #40 cotton drill

Was by Joann’s today and looked up the #40 Drill Cloth. It was on the same shelf with the pillow ticking and much cheaper. The Drill was $7.99 a yard and the Ticking $14.99. They had a 30% off sale today so I bought a yard to try out even though I am pretty happy with the Red and Blue Ticking...

    Knock-down camp table

I should mention these are not your ordinary pallets, these are what “Hardie” type siding comes on. They are 12’ long and 48” or 50” wide. So, pretty unwieldy to haul home but a lot of material when you do. Luckily, I have a 12’ trailer that is just right and I usually get three or four in a...

    Knock-down camp table

Earlier this year I built a camp table out of “upcycled” pallet wood. I took it to exactly one rendezvous before deciding it was far too heavy and cumbersome. So, the old one got repurposed as a shop table and I built a new camp table that knocks down and is generally much lighter. It will...

Picked up an old N.O.S. Uberti 3rd Dragoon

Brand new product that got lost back on a shelf or somebody just put it back as an investment for the future. Finally makes its’ way to market and is a “new” item just might be an old model. I know some old gun dealers that would buy a stuff and pile it up for the future. No telling what was...

    Some real old prices

I still have my first Muzzle Loader bought back in the 1980s, a CVA SXS 12 bore from a kit. It was from Mid South Shooters Supply and I want to say was around $180. I messed some stuff up but was fortunate to be able to source replacement parts from CVA back then to finish it. I recently...

    Some real old prices

Ah the bad old days. My first real non-farm job paid $2 an hour. I remember the boss asking me “would you tighten up for 10 cents more”? Yee Ha, $2.10 an hour, and that was cash under the table! Kept gas in the old F100 and pocket money for a teenager.

    .36 or .44?

I have BP revolvers from an 1862 Police up to a Walker, and like them all. I started with a Ruger Old Army and that was all I had for years. Next I got a .36 1851 but followed that with a Walker and recently a 3rd Dragoon. An 1861 Navy is the most pleasing to my eye. Of the group I like...

What Does Your Range Bench Set-Up Look Like?

That would be my dream set-up. About the only part I have are the Dillon presses though. : (

A first attempt at a Gourd Canteen

That would certainly cut down on the shaking required to clean out a gourd. Sounds like I need to make another tool.

    Question on value.

Many of you are assuming facts not in evidence. The OP does not state that the gun’s current bore is unusable, only asks if a rebore/re-rifle will hurt value. It would make a difference to my answer as would the current historical value.

    Ground Cloth for Museum Wedge

My (albeit limited) understanding is that fire proofing is a time and use expiring product/treatment. Walking on it surely does not help with longevity. I would not add anything to the tarp that would increase the chances of it catching fire in an attempt at waterproofing. The accepted...

    Ground Cloth for Museum Wedge

I decided to make my own “super” ground cloth for my new Panther Mini Wall. Did not see the point of spending big money for a non-fire retardant floor, which is what Panther seems to sell. I laid down a piece of cloth-like House Wrap and set up my tent. That gives me a clean place to work...

Smoothbores shooting round ball really high

Have to admit I have not read all the posts. But this seems like a nice simple “6 o’clock” hold situation for the Woods Walks. What am I missing?
