    Rifle Questions

It was engraved pretty shallow and sadly I didn't pay enough attention but I'm going to go back and look at it again today.

    Accuracy Issues

No holes ball seat looks good I did find one that had a rough spot along one of the rifling but it didn't tear through. I'm using .18 pillow ticking and .530 round ball I've tried .535 in the past but the bore was to tight even with .10 patch. I've been shooting the same load without issue for...

    Rifle Questions

I can find Brock and Norris out of the UK but they are flintlock usually. It's tagged as Brock and Chambers so does that mean Jim Chambers did a conversion to percussion. I'm thinking it might be a hell of a rifle but I still don't know.

    Rifle Questions

I was browsing the local shop today and had the opportunity to look at a 45 cal Brock and Chambers full stock 44" barely with a curly maple stock. Honestly I've never seen one and know absolutely nothing but it was well put together, tight fitting, and fully functional. They had it listed for...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Shot both my 50 and 54 cal Hawkens. The 50 shot great, round ball loads and conicals. The 54 shot like garbage. I have posted on this in another thread but over all it was a lovely day to burn some powder.

    Accuracy Issues

Well I've got a pedersoli Hawken hunter in 54 cal that has always been a 2-2.5" at 100 yard gun. My sights are not stock the big ghost ring just wasn't doing well and the front was just to large so it has a Lee Shaver Globe and a Lyman 57SML tang peep. Anyway I was out today and I haven't...

    Load development

I will say nothing wrong with 777 in that 54 but remember it burns hot like hot enough with a big charge to melt a soft lead bullet base. I use felt wads over powder and make sure to load 15% down from what would be a maximum black powder charge. I actually prefer the 3F 777 and a magnum #11 cap...

    Did you draw? Colorado

I drew a decent muzzleloader deer tag in CO this year. I grew up there and guided there for most of my life it will be nice to get back and hunt it with my Hawken.

    Howdy from Montana

I am new to the forum but not traditional muzzleloading. I don't own and haven't shot many long rifles but I do love Hawken style guns and really enjoy cap locks. I've recently taken an interest in flint lock rifles and am currently thinking of picking up a mountain rifle flinter or maybe a...
