    Civil War Gun Value

What would be a Civil War era Lehman 32 Caliber percussion long rifle in so-so condition be worth. It won't fire as I believe the barrel was fouled when someone threw it into the Ohio River for a few months. I'll see if I can get some pictures of it to post.

Seneca .45 cal. to .36 cal.

Thanks and I didn't understand that they were saying yes. Told ya I was a little slow to catch on. Appreciate you pointing that out to me.

Seneca .45 cal. to .36 cal.

But no one answer or knows whether or not I can slide a Seneca .36 cal. into my .45 cal. stock if I can ever find one. Help.

    Modifying a Maxi-Ball

No I haven't, but was thinking that the bullet is such a great penetrator that I wanted a little bigger hole going through all of that flesh. That would mean a better blood trail, less travel time after the hole is made, more venison on the table and less for the vultures. Besides I over think...

Seneca .45 cal. to .36 cal.

Think I will be on the lookout for a 36 instead of a 32.

Seneca .45 cal. to .36 cal.

I have a T/C Seneca 45 cal. and wanted to know if I get a T/C 32 cal. barrel can I interchange the barrels on the stock.

    New old dude from WV

We call it the Hi'-uh Riv-ur' and the state of Hi'-uh, but sometimes people have me slow down and pronounce it O-hi-o. But thanks for the welcome.

How about using an old flannel shirt?

    Modifying a Maxi-Ball

What do you guys think about drilling a little concave in the head of my Maxi-Ball so that it acts a little bit like a traditional hollow-point bullet. Someone even suggested even sawing a "X" or a cross on the front of the bullet so the that the bullet expands more on or before impact. I...

Developing a load for my T/C Seneca 45 cal.

Well, it was over 40-45 years ago when I last hunted with the gun much. I was young and dumb, and didn't know any better. I thought that big barrel (as compared to my Savage 30-30 pump rifle) could handle a double charge anyways. But I am much more cautious now and don't take as many risks as...

Developing a load for my T/C Seneca 45 cal.

I notice more than a couple of you use FFFG instead of FFG which is all that I ever used. Why and which would be better for hunting. I am assuming that I use more powder to get more velocity and more lethality when hunting. I will use the gun for some fun shooting but probably will be using...

Developing a load for my T/C Seneca 45 cal.

So I believe that the amount black powder by volume that I shot back in the day was between 90 and 110 of FFG. I think that was a bit too much and want to develop a proper load and want to know the best manner to go about it. Any suggestions are welcome. I am shooting Maxi-balls and round...

    Hawken vs Seneca T/C Rifles

Well mine is 13/16 and now I know what I have for certain.

    Hawken vs Seneca T/C Rifles

Thanks, it's a Seneca and that is what I thought it would be, but always thought I wanted a Hawken until I started carrying around a Seneca in the woods without a sling. The dang thing is heavy enough. The gun has a lot of history in the state of WV as it was the reason that WV started a BP...

    Hawken vs Seneca T/C Rifles

I believe that my rifle is a Seneca rifle but wasn't sure. Is there a sure-fire way to know?

Your 4 counties down there are pretty tough hunting terrain. They still don't have a ML season for you?

Welcome, I'm new too. I knew the Atty. Gen. from your neck of the woods. Started BP in WV in 76 before they had a season for BP and deer.
