Since Lyman has got out of the picture they have really picked up the slack if you have an Investarms gun. I have a Lyman GPR 54 percussion and I have ordered a few parts and gotten great service. I have since purchased an additional barrel for my GPR in 45 cal which I am really excited about...

    A Moment of Weakness

I've seen some that people really invested some time in come out looking really nice. This will probably be a lot of fun and likely a good shooter.

You know I just bought some 100% pure castor oil to try. I was also going to try avocado oil. One of the other guys on this forum said avocado oil had had high temperature stability. The TOW mink oil i have been using works fine. I just like experimenting with stuff.

Got my new 45 barrel for my GPR

It is not as nose heavy as i thought it would be. It is clearly a little heavier but not much. I believe it will be a little steadier off hand.

Got my new 45 barrel for my GPR

Well I ordered a spare barrel to put on my Lyman GPR IN 45 cal. The 54 is great but I wanted to try something different. I was considering buying a Gemmer Flint but I was worried about the investarms quality. My Lyman was bought in 2017 and the barrel was recalled. The one they replaced it with...

I have used FFFg Shutzen and Graff's in my GPR 54 PERCUSSION . It shoots fine,is accurate, and goes off reliably. I would buy it again. I am shooting a heavy charge of 110grs , .435 or .430 ball, pillow ticking patch, with TOW mink oil lube and standard #11 caps both Rem and CCI. This load does...

    Went crazy this week

Well I have been thinking about buying a Gemmer Hawkin flint 54 for about a year. However, I am about to have neck surgery this month so I decided to wait. THEN I noticed I could get a 45cal barrel for my Lyman GPR percussion so I got one on order. I have always wanted a TN long rifle in 45 but...

    InvestArms Flint Gemmer Hawken Rifle

I have one of these in a percussion model that was marketed by Lyman. I was wondering if anyone on this forum had bought one recently and could comment on the workmanship and reliability. My percussion model works well but has a few small issues . Most importantly it is reliable. I would...

Shot the old Lyman 54 some yesterday

Etipp I'll send u pictures tomorrow of my BP manual. I'm not worried about the charge. I like the smoke. You know some above suggested that that Graff powder just produces a lot of crud. This seems likely to me but it shoots good and I have about 10 pounds.

SeaBee My mother's family had a small farm on Bass road just south of you. My brother and I still have it . Grew up shooting and working out there. You must be retired NAVY from the base. All my folks are buried at West Union Church

    They still worked...most of them

I just finished up a Tin of CVA'S I bought from Walmart in the early 90's. These are probably CCI 'S . They have been stored in my shooting closet all this time ( a cool dry space). Take care of your stuff and it will outlast you.

Shot the old Lyman 54 some yesterday

Those are some of the patches from. FRIDAY. These are a precut .015 pillow ticking. I think they came from TOW. My Lyman instructions and black powder manual both indicate that 110grs of fffg is a suitable load. I've read before that some manuals recommend a lower charge but I've shot this one...
