    Set Trigger

If I loosen the the rear screw I can get it to set. However the rear screw is only in by 2 treads and seems very loose . Also the springs are so loose they are moving around on the plate.

    Set Trigger

I bought this trigger in the late 90's from Mountain State Muzzleloading . It is one of their products and has their logo on it. Well I am working on my project and got the trigger out to look at it and I can not get it to set. The shelf on the rear trigger never goes under the lip the front...

Swiss vs Schuetzen 2f and 3f

I have used Graff and Scheutzen 3f in my GPR 54 percussion for the last 5 years. I can't see any difference. It cleans up easy . I thought about buying some Swiss to try but I decided for my simple needs of hunting and beer can busting it is not worth it. I have one can of 3f Goex I have never...

    RWS caps hit dealers shelves

I ordered some and Graff's would only let you order 3 cans. It seems to me scalpers are not involved.

    Thoughts on Percussion Caps

Since caps are hard to get I thought it might be interesting to see what everybody's experience has been with the caps they have used. Over the years about 90% of my shooting has been with Remington #11's . However I am currently shooting some CVA Caps that I bought in the 90's which I think are...

    Hunting with the GPR

Well deer season starts in November in West Tennessee and I am already getting the itch. I recently used the scotch bright method on my 54 to de-burr the barrel on my gun so I can shoot more than one round without swabbing. Unfortunately I haven't been able to test it yet but that should happen...

Let's see how far down the Rabbit Hole this takes me....

I have the same combination. The 51 is probably the best balanced cap and ball revolver available. The slixshot nipples are great

Lapping the Barrel with JB bore Paste

So I went by the hardware store and bought some 7448 Scotch Bright gray pad which is ultra fine. Looks like Duelist 1954 was using the Marone fine pad. Since I have already done 50 strokes with the JB I am going to do about 50 strokes with 7448 pad and then test the gun. That will probably...

Lapping the Barrel with JB bore Paste

I just need to be able to get 2 or 3 shots to load smoothly without having to use my range rod . My gun rod is Delrin and is very tough but not as stiff as a hickory rod and I cannot load a second shot with it. I did some research at lunch and according to 3M the 7448 pro pad has a 320 grit...
