Need help identifying defarbed repro Enfield's markings

Proof marks and date codes do get mentioned a lot but for new users I don't mind the repetition. For all the references, I don't think I've ever seen "PN" translated correctly: PN = polvere nera. Polvere is a feminine noun. And now you know...

    Hahn 1859 Sharps conversion

I just tried as well. It seems his email has been deactivated. A loss for Sharps users!

1855 Sidehammer Root original & reproduction

Just gorgeous! Where did you find something so rare as a mint Root? The only reproductions I’ve seen have been by Palmetto and unengraved - you may be correct about it being original. Could it have been reblued? Did you buy it as a cased set? I hope you’ll share more info and more pics!

    Hahn 1859 Sharps conversion

No idea but try reaching Charlie himself. His website is still active.

    Hahn 1859 Sharps conversion

Might be. I know his website offered "Revolver Upgrade for Match Shooting" (http://www.hahnmachineworks.com/html/RevolverAccuracy.html) and maybe that was done to those revolvers. I remember a rumor earlier this year that Charlie had retired. I haven't tried to verify by contacting him.

    Brass cartridge loading question

I know - brass cartridges on this forum?? But I'm asking about those that are OK to discuss here such as the Burnside and Maynard carbines that required a conventional musket cap to fire. Sharps, of course, used paper cartridges and I use the plastic or nylon cases in my Smith. I think there are...

    scratch

You mean the wrench in the lower left corner? :-) BTW, I posted about this case and what I was trying to accomplish some time ago: https://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/threads/asm-walker-presentation-case.131803/

    scratch

if you want like new appearance I can only think of sanding down the scratches and rebluing. My Uberti Walker was in great mechanical condition but the finish was flawed. I stripped all the bluing, left the cylinder white like originals, then cold blued the rest. My cold bluing job is not...

1858 Remington History and cool stories.

Pretty certain the revolver on the lower right in the first image is an 1851 Navy. I’m stumped by the one on the lower left but it clearly isn’t a Colt and I sort of doubt it’s a Remington. British? Other European? Interesting and odd pic!

    I like my repros

I don’t shoot my original revolvers - I only have two originals anyway. But I shoot my reproductions and really enjoy them all. I do have a small number of original rifles that I shoot and there is something special about doing that. Shooting the reproductions is fun but not quit comparable. I...

    C&Rsenal Repurcussions: Colt 1855

Thanks for sharing! Very informative. I have both an original Model 2A and a Palmetto reproduction. I’m afraid to shoot either because of their fragile reputation. But this video has inspired me! Maybe this weekend…

SOLD Maynard Carbine Brass Cartridge Cases

My apologies for any rules violation. Even though it's mostly moot now ("sold pending funds") I've posted a pic with my screen name and date. I would have thought that offering one or the other rather than both would be easier and less confusing in a single posting. But again, I think it's now moot.

SOLD Maynard Carbine Brass Cartridge Cases

Thanks for the clarification. And I simply forgot a card with my name. I'll take care of that right away.

SOLD Maynard Carbine Brass Cartridge Cases

These are the "reduced load" cases; they take about 28 grains of FFG black powder. S&S Firearms lists these for $3.50 each, or $2.75 each for quantities over 100. I purchased 100 cases at the discounted price, but I have found that I rarely shoot more than 25-30 rounds on any trip to the range...

    1851 navy...revolving rifle?

Sort of…interesting? That thing takes “fantasy” gun to a new level.

    Pritchett bullet ?

The following was gleaned from Wikipedia so take it with the proverbial grain. I read that the Minié was invented in 1846. I understand that the Pritchett bullet was developed later. Not trying to start anything but are you sure the Pritchett came first?

    DIY Defarbing and Refinishing

Same here. I’ve achieved the mustard-colored patina on Italian made powder flasks by suspending them in a closed jar with a little household ammonia in the bottom of the jar. Works well enough for me.

    Possible gunpowder related tragedy

None since the day following the incident. And at this point I don’t think there will be any further investigation.

    Possible gunpowder related tragedy

I’ve been convinced that’s the only thing that could have happened - somehow a primer popped off igniting others, which in turn ignited powder in the loader, on the bench, or both.
