    24 Uberti 1862 Police unpack

I have acquired about 60 revolvers, from ASP, ASM, Pietta, Uberti, and a few less common names like Palmetto, MOFRA, COM. I’ve traded or sold many so that I “only” have fewer than 40 in my collection now. The keepers are all Uberti or Colt 2nd generation, with Piettas of the models not produced...

    Starr revolver discoveries

Another forum member just posted one this afternoon, and for a reasonable price (if $600 is reasonable). It was gone about 20 minutes later. I like the two Pietta Starrs that round out my collection but they are even more finicky than any of my Colt revolvers. I took each one to the range a...

Best new made 1849 colt pocket??

I have had I think five Uberti 1849 pocket revolvers, all 4-inch barrels. (Five? Don’t ask.) I kept two for a cased set and they are very nice. Something that keeps me looking for Ubertis and avoiding Pietta of any model is that Uberti does a good job of hiding modern markings.

    Must be nice

A friend told me that it’s always 72F in Hawaii. But I’ll still stay in the Rockies.

    Bullet molds

I haven’t but your question gave me a bit of incentive to try them out. I’ll be heating up the lead pot tonight to experiment and I’ll let you know. I’ve attached a pic of my original molds. (Apologies for the quality - iPhone camera.) All but the one on the far right are “Colts Patent” marked...

1863 Starr single action revolver cylinder stop or a parts gun

Your photo looks like it came from the S&S website and I see it’s currently out of stock. Have you tried other forums such as CivilWarTalk, N-SSA? I would even try the ColtForum. You might connect there with a Colt enthusiast who just happens to also own a SA Starr or who has Starr parts. My...

    Mississippi Rifle questions

Here is the original for sale thread with pics: https://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/threads/1841-mississippi-rifle-54.178098/ They're just about right on at .542+/-. I've been afraid they might be too large. I should have gauged the barrel before ordering a mold. Sooooo, I have a nearly new...

    Mississippi Rifle questions

Greetings All. I recently picked up a nice defarbed Antonio Zoli Mississippi rifle in .54 caliber from another forum member. (Thanks @David Smith03!) I’ve more or less figured out Minié ball casting and sizing for a variety of larger caliber muskets, Enfields (.577+/-) and Springfields (.58+/-)...

Questions about .54 caliber paper cartridges plus box

Someone else mentioned Revolutionary War period paper cartridges. I have researched online info about pre-ACW paper cartridges for my reproduction .54 Mississippi rifle. I found references to and and photos of .54 round ball paper cartridges made for the Mississippi rifle long before their use...

    Film Quote

Sorry I didn’t see your message until now but someone else provided the answer. I don’t wish to offend anyone from Nebraska but since I lived in Lincoln for awhile myself I think I have the right to quote that line. And I do. Frequently.

“I noticed when you get to dislikin’ someone they ain’t around for long neither.” “Hell, even I thought I was dead ‘til I found out it was just that I was in Nebraska.”

FOR SALE Colt 1851 2nd Generation

It looks like you have the box too? Maybe papers? If so even with a bit of a cylinder turn ring and wear on the bolt stop leads your price could be a bit low. I like it but I already have three 2nd gen 1851s and about as many Ubertis. Wish I were a buyer though. Good luck!

    Tiny priming flasks??

I don’t know much about Sykes but I’ve seen a lot of original flasks for sale on eBay by them. There is a company in India that makes a pretty convincing reproduction of these small flasks. I’ve seen them for sale on eBay and Etsy. They don’t try to pass them off as originals but they do have...

What is it that pulls us into muzzle loading!

I can think of a few reasons and I think both the OP and #2 covered some of mine as well. I wanted another way to connect to my ancestors. I like the savings. Shooting just 25 rounds today in my Richards Mason conversion (.44 special) cost almost that many dollars. Shooting 36 rounds in my...

    Handgun Questions

I had a 1986 proofed ASM 1860. It was a fine shooter, every bit as good as my much newer Uberti. Don’t let anyone tell you they’re junk. And as @SOLANCO says, just shoot them. Or put another way, are you gonna pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?

Williamson Arms Griswold & Gunnison Reproduction-Anyone Heard Of Them?

At $275 you would have been a sucker to pass on it. Great deal with all the accoutrement and a nice gun.
