Frustrated - Hopefully just the growing pains of a newbie

I’m not familiar with Nevrdull but I’m wondering if there’s an advantage to using a metal polish on a bore that’s in good condition anyway?

    Historical Accuracy!

Well it’s a “muzzleloader” so you pour 80 grains down the barrel, of course. Everyone knows that. 😄

    Lead could dissolve a marriage

I’m jealous of everyone who still has a wife, for better or worse. Mine died four years ago after nearly 43 years together. Reading y’all’s comments brings a lump to my throat. I’d gladly give up all my muzzleloading stuff and anything else to be able to have her with me again. Be grateful for...

Some Eye Candy : Cimarron 1860 "McCulloch Colt" Anyone Else?

I’m a bit late to the conversation, but back to the OP - here are my two. Top is a Colt 2nd Gen, bottom is an Uberti.

    Colt 1860, 2nd gen

Point taken. I am pretty much done collecting Colts. I don’t have all models but I have what I wanted. They’re for lookin’ at. I’ve kept the Ubertis for shooting.

    Show your Muzzleloading gems.

I have nothing as fine or unique as many of the beauties that I’ve seen in this thread. I mostly collect and shoot ACW era military arms, but I am fond of this Mowrey Allen & Thurber that I acquired from another forum member a couple of years ago. It’s purdy and accurate.

    Lead could dissolve a marriage

Based on the thread title I thought the lead in question might have been directed at one’s spouse through the barrel of a gun. I can’t think of a faster way to end a marriage. 😬

    Colt 1860, 2nd gen

I first bought the lowest priced reproductions I could find, then as I learned about different manufacturers and differences in quality I started trading up for what I believe are the better reproductions, i.e., Uberti, Cimarron, Taylor. Now I’m starting to trade up again for 2nd Gen...

    Starr revolver discoveries

Greetings All. This thread is for anyone fond of obscure but probably useless information regarding an iconic revolver of the ACW. But it's a Sunday and the weather isn't great so why not. Join me to nerd out for a bit... I have an original Starr double action revolver and Pietta reproductions...

This came in today.. purdy. Leech and Rigdon, Cimarron

That was nice of Cimarron to respond.

    Pronunciation of "gonne"

    Go boom thing.

This came in today.. purdy. Leech and Rigdon, Cimarron

The C is an imperfectly stamped date code. The second letter only shows the top and in my opinion could be an F, T or Z. ( I’ll go with Z.) If it’s important to know maybe Cimarron can tell you? The marks on the barrel are also imperfectly stamped. As others frequently point out on the forum...

    Pritchett Bullet Mold

I have not used Pritchett bullets or cartridges but please explain how the Burton ball and cartridge are clumsy by comparison. And please know I’m not trying to start an argument - I would just like to know the basis for that claim. Thanks!

That is a handsome piece. If it were mine I wouldn’t hesitate to take it to the range.

Owners of original (not modern replicas) C&B revolvers, do you shoot them?

My only originals are a Colt 1855 Root and a Starr DA. I took apart a reproduction Root once and the fragile parts made an impression. I’m concerned about shooting the Root and breaking something. Not sure about the Starr but I think it would be fine. I just haven’t got around to it yet. Any...

Inquiry about current replica percussion revolvers

That sounds great @No second place! Let’s see, I just checked the mileage - 1,909 miles from my door to Dixie Gun Works. Sometimes I envy y’all in that part of the country. In Bjg Sky Country options are a bit more limited. 🫤

Inquiry about current replica percussion revolvers

Want to consider a lightly used Pietta Remington New Model Navy? 😄

Inquiry about current replica percussion revolvers

I have purchased quite a few Italian reproductions and I have also found that Uberti is generally of higher quality (fit, finish, action, etc.) than Pietta or earlier makers. I have had a few issues with Ubertis, but none I couldn't correct. (Be aware of the short arbor problem, discussed in...
