    Percussion Wheel Gun Accuracy

My groups with my 1858 (44, Uberti made for Lyman) are basically the same size as my groups with my CZ75 so I'd say in my case it is just the nut behind the trigger.

    airgun pellets for MLs?

Hit the outdoor store where I got my .54 on a deal (he didn't know anything about it, was just getting into pawn stuff too) to check out what else they had, and noticed they were heavy on PCP air rifles.... then noticed the pellets for said rifles at the ammo shelf. I was intrigued by the...

What Does Your Range Bench Set-Up Look Like?

My range bag has all my usual "every range trip" needs - targets, stapler, hearing protection, some tools, couple of kinds of lube, partial boxes of ammo for just about everything I own, a mag for just about everything I own and a couple of things I no longer own, etc. When I shoot BP I take a...

    Excessive Caliber Syndrome (ECS)

Yup, pared down on calibers a few years ago, then got set up for reloading, and slowly re-expanding calibers again.

    Excessive Caliber Syndrome (ECS)

Heck for my centerfire stuff I have 4 variations on 30 caliber things...

    TC 54 Renegade load

For my CVA 54 a basic ball or maxi load is a 308 case full of 3F - a hair or so over 50gr. Ive gone as high as 90gr and that is plenty of recoil. Max load I could find in old generic CVA docs is 120gr 530 ball and 010-ish patch lubed with bore butter or 425gr maxis from Dixie Gun Works...

Well it is a muzzle loader.

Thanks. I think if it happens for me it will be a WECSOG thing - just buying one seems like "cheating"

Well it is a muzzle loader.

Been tryin to think of a way to do a similar but "permanment" conversion Maybe even an AR upper...

Any of you guys ever use one of these?

I will admit to be planning on grabbing a slip on recoil pad Even though it is a 54 and 425 gr maxis pushed by 60-90gr 3F arent much worse than 12 ga slugs or buck it is the stock design etc Had the same issue on an AK, just bad ergonomics for my shoulder and stock design

    So Much for Sharing

Frustrating... but as someone who was doing internet stuff back in the days when you actually had to have skills and knowledge to get online much less get anywhere once you were connected, I gotta say... it sucks but their site their rules. Self-hosting is the only way to go... but then we're...

    Funny Muzzleloading Experience

When my buddy and I get together to shoot the question becomes "Which is attracting more observers, the muzzle loader or the machine guns". Until the belt fed 1919A4 comes out it is a fairly close tie but leans towards the muzzle loader if only because of affordability/availability. Dumping...

Goex FFFG and FFG Equivalency Ratio(s) in loading 56 Caliber

No, the original question has been edited. It did reference the use of 3Fg vs 2Fg and charge amounts when reloading a certain BP cartridge round.

Working up a range load for a traditions deer hunter.

Sounds like a good starting point, though I'd start at 50 gr just as a "minimum load" - it could be the most accurate, and it will do the job. Next step is to load 'em up to evaluate loading (is it too hard to do in the field? My 54 is with a 530 ball and 015 patch, no way could I do it...

Is there a safe way to dry fire a percussion revolver?

Think 3d printed stuff will be too hard and shatter or similar. I'd get a box of pencils and pull the erasers out, then core out enough of the middle for them to slip easily over the nipple.

Where to get scrimshaw from heirloom hunting horn to powder horn.

OK, so I see two things - a design needs doing, and would possibly need transfer to the other horn. And then the other horn would need the design actually engraved on it. For getting the design... I'd get some onion paper or similar and trace what is on the first horn as best you can. Tape...

    Muzzleloader as art

I am always impressed with excellent mechanical design even if wrapped in a very utilitarian package - look at the Garand or FN FAL as prime examples . Some times fine mechanical design is presented with elegance and style - the Porsche 356 or the 912s thru the late 80s are examples of this...

Any other heretics out there that oil their barrels?

Kinda. I use vegetable oil though, no dinosaur products What is weird about me is I clean the revolver with veg oil and nothing else. Rifle gets the hot water treatment. Nothing else besides tools and elbow grease used. Will admit I had access to an air compressor last time I cleaned...

Anyone shooting paper cartridges in 36 & 44 caliber?

I got mine off of Amazon. 1ml or 1cc is about 15gr of powder, so you will want 4 or 5ml size tubes. These are the ones I'm using -...

Anyone shooting paper cartridges in 36 & 44 caliber?

Untraditional as heck, but I do similar with a bunch of 3cc plastic sample tubes with flip top lids. Load a bunch at home, toss 'em in range box and go. With 30gr in them (a full 223 case) one per chamber on the revolver, two to four in the .54 rifle.

Felt wads under patch and ball?

Lubed felt wad under naked ball in my 1858, which from what I understand is "standard". Have a punch but haven't gotten material yet to make some wads for my .54, want to try them with both ball and maxis.
