    Harness leather

I am going to make a backpack that Mark Baker describes in his book. The straps are made of harness leather. How does this differ from regular leather. Is it the thickness or the way it is tanned? Any help would be appreciated.

In both of the True Grit movies and in the book they talked about corn dodgers. Is this a real thing and how do you make them?

    Minie in ML?

I'm not sure if this topic has been addressed before. Has anyone used a minie-type bullet in a muzzleloading pistol for hunting? Given the relatively fast twist in most pistols would they be accurate and powerful enough for hunting?

"The Outlaw Josey Wales" and his Walkers

Regarding the movie Walkers, I read somewhere that no company made repo walkers when the movie was made. They were actually hand built by a prop house. That would account for the different cylinders (Cartridge and Cap) that were used.

    Bleaching leather

I was reading an article in Muzzleloader that said you could bleach commercially-tanned leather (the orange stuff) to make it look more like brain- tanned. Has anyone tried this method?

    Question on making lead ingots

I've been using an old muffin tin for years. They fit nicely into my Lee pot. Another nice thing is that I can pour only about 1/4 inch of lead into mold to make lead "coins" that I put in my trekking gear. You can put one of these in a ladle and melt the lead over a campfire to make a couple...

    Jeff White knife

I'm looking at a longhunter knife made by Jeff White on Ebay. The steel is ANSI 1095 hardened to Rockwell 59 (HRC 58-60). I don't know enough about metal to know if this is a good type of steel. I'm hoping that some of the members of the forum might be able to help me on this. Jeff White Knife
