    Goex Upsetting Dealers

If dealers are upset because the largest ML competition in the country (90 years old) is 1st to announce such and sell such to ML enthusiasts, on the grounds for 1 week, those few dealers are not in support of ML shooting, IMO.. sounds like they are jealous..

Conical molds and odd twist rates .54 cal

I made a mold for my 54 1:26” twist. 2 bore diameters long - solid is just under 600gr. I’ve hunted whitetail with the HP - dropped a nice 9pt at 90yds. I shoot 85gr Swiss 2F I also had Accurate Molds duplicate it for a friend. Should be No problem with your 1:24 twist. Good luck

Need help identifying this 8mm or .30 Cal.half stock percussion rifle

I suspect you have a gun build with parts. As for the barrel question: I do have a 30cal with a steel ramrod - if that helps?

Missouri State Rifle in "The American Rifleman"

Glad to see… Celebrating our Nations history with the most iconic name in Muzzleloading history - good for Missouri. Doubt any of this occurs without the creation of HawkenClassic. Shows what can happen when collaborate efforts are made for a common goal. Thanks to many.

    Parker Hale Volunteer

Try 85gr Swiss 2f. Alexander Henry rifling likes PP bullets..If you can get some swaged bullets from Buffalo Arms - they have a slight cavity base and shoot well. If not - try a Lyman 451114 with a wad. I enjoy shooting my original Alexander Henry, even won a match with it.,, Good luck.

    Pedersoli Kodiak from 1976

Keep up your testing, more is not always better. Slowing down will help keep from X-ing: dwell time and recoil. I’ve witnessed some modern DR shoot well and some not so well. I doubt any modern DR is regulated like an original, even with originals - better makers spent more time regulating...

    Dove shot size?

A good dove hunt with a ML is a blast! 7.5 shot works fine. However, modern hunters have an advantage with tighter chokes and they either kill or start banging away long before a ML with a cylinder bore. Good luck as it can be a thrill to behold - you’re guaranteed to get everyone’s attention!

What’s correct about a misaligned drill/hole? Other than poor gunmaking?

    1865 to 1900?

2nd 1/2 of the 19th Century saw some of the greatest arms ever produced… both ML & BL. Unfortunately, this forum is missing out, including the ‘Original Antique Firearms’ page here. There’s quite a few Facebook sites that can assist, that I enjoy.

    black powder shotgun

Liege Belgium proofed. 18.2mm is the bore, when proofed. Looks like twist steel type barrels. Probably, mid - late 19th Century

hickory ramrods, where to buy the best?

Go somewhere/event that allows you to select your own. Straight grain all the way down the rod.

I Have This Other Old Rifle

That’s shorter than usual. You’d have to remove the barrel from the stock to see if there are oddly placed or additional dovetails on the under that might indicate it was shortened. Regardless, it is what it is.. It would, most likely be shortened from the breech end. Sights look correct. This...

I Have This Other Old Rifle

How long is the barrel? I’ve seen that promannt ‘line’ along the center of the right side on another E. TN rifle - Bible, I believe. The TN Longrifle show in Knoxville each spring would be a great place to get 1st hand accounts..
