Just got done spending the afternoon in the yard with my An IX. This time I used my tripod as a rest to remove some of the human error. First group was 70gr of Fg and second was 65gr of Fg, both at 10 yards. The extra-large hole at the 8/9 line, I'm pretty sure is two hits. 65gr is the lowest I...
I owned a Pedersoli Queen Anne at one point, the muzzle flare made it extremely difficult to use. I was younger and less patient than I am now, so I sold it to @cynthialee. Hopefully she enjoyed it more than I did.
Could easily be me. Not having a rear sight doesn't do you any favors and I might be using a different sight picture... but I'd like to think im doing "ok". I don't have a bench but I do have a tripod, will give it a try.
Another factor could easily be inconsistent paper cartridges (different...
I consider all shots within a 12x18 target at 10 yards to be successful. For the most part I can maintain that with my 80gr cartridges (primed from the cartridge). I have been trying to figure out my wandering POI, it will put a couple near each other then shift and put a couple somewhere else...
I thought everyone here would have heard of him. He makes budget friendly custom round ball molds that fit Lee handles! Shipping to the USA is only about $18.
With his molds you need to give him an exact size, which means you need to account for lead shrinkage (he has the math on the website)...
Spent some time in the yard trying different methods of loading the An IX for consistency. Also ordered another round ball mold from Ballmoulds.com. I'm going to try a patched round ball load in the 69 caliber guns.
BP guns never get truly "clean". The inside of the barrel will darken and no matter how many patches you run , something will come out. Many people refer to this as "seasoning".
My manual says to shoot patched balls in my 1777 musket and An IX pistol... so paper cartridges are no good?
@kh54 Thanks for posting about this, I've heard of, but never seen the results of a chain fire. Glad there was no damage!
