    Google " what kind of acid is used to stain curly maple stocks". tannic acid to accentuate maple figure. This is used in conjunction with ferric or iron nitrate in the staining process.

    So my fellow MLer friends. My Traditions Kentucky is 99.9% finished. The .1% being a Johnson rear peep sight that will be browned and mounted. Here are the results that the builder did. I now have what I believe is a unique and in my opinion a 1 of a kind Kentucky rifle.

    I went ahead and bought that Johnson peep sight from muzzleloader builders supply. I also ordered 2 050 (Small) Aperture since they didn't have a bigger one figuring I could always drill it out bigger if I needed to. Did you find that you also had to replace the front sight with a taller one...

    Because I didn't have all the proper tools nor confidence. I'd rather pay someone to complete it for me with not only all that but also the experience and I found one. When he's done with it I will have unique and hopefully a one of a kind Kentucky.

    Need help on my Traditions Kentucky rifle build

    Thanks for your input. I've needed someone to actually say that the trigger inlet did need to be deepened. Now I can move forward. Did you also have to remove the wood between the trigger and guard inlets?
