    flintlock pistol

i have enough irons in the fire but i'd like to know more about the flintlock pistol hunting. i used to do a ruger srh(7.5" barrel) in 44 mag. i did a 2-3" at 100 yards(5 shots and a hoe handle, it was many years before primos bipod came out). i shot 6 or 7 deer out to 125+/- yards, most were...

Where to get the best flint

i have left three german agates that i've bought 30 +/- years ago. they were pricey at the time(gun show), i got them for $1 or 1.50 per piece(compare 20 - 35 cents cents for an english flint) i've gone thru one frizzen and 2 agates. my dad however, built his tc hawkins(very early 1980s)and he...

Where to get the best flint

i like sparks, either dry or wet conditions, i use german agate flints. the only thing i don't like about them is they are so hard on the frizzen, so keep an extra or two around. just a reminder, i am, in no ways, an flintlock expert. i am a flintlock "novice". :off :surrender:

    give it another try

the last time i bought faulkenberry juice was in the fall of 1988(i think for a case it went $40-50? i bought 3 or 4 cases). i kept on using fbj till 1999. fbj was a lube/cleaner and it did not affect unfired black powder. but fbj sure was a fired bp cleaner. i was "trying" to do a "fbj...

    give it another try

i shot about 7 or 8 or maybe more deer with the patched rb. every one of them dropped or was found at about 10-15 yards from the shot. the deer were shot at ranges from 20-50 yards. back then, i used faulkenberry juice on my patch. when the guy who made it retired(?), faulkenberry juice(i tried...
