    What are your favorite targets?

a few yrs ago I set up a 400yd shooting range along the back side of the fam property, its only 15yds wide. In March this yr a friend & his brother helped me build a permanent shooting bench & set it in concrete. I'm a journeyman metal fabricator/welder by trade, but I didn't get fancy with...

    Smoothing A Rough Bore

I've wrapped steel wool around a bore brush for a tight fit then applied whatever compound I was using to it. That is cheap, easy & works fine.

    Smoothing A Rough Bore

WHITE- I cut a piece of white scotch brite pad, wrap it around - for a .50 use a .45 bore brush then I use JB bore compound, but other stuff works too.

Well alrighty then. My ideas - Your post made no sense to me at all, I considered type-o's & misspelling a factor, so I just asked. Pretty simple really.

    Nice shooting.

    I am totally addicted

Its awesome that you're enjoying shooting your flinter, it's a discipline unto itself. One I have never attempted. It sounds like your terrible groups at 50yds are as much attributed to you as it is your gun & its load. Try eliminating one of those elements by shooting off a bench rest, until...

    Everything .40 Cal. Muzzleloader

Thank you so much for that post. I have been following the way " off topic " convo goin - on & on, wondering where the heck the admins are in here. I was intending to address that myself when I just logged in, but I see that you've kindly & respectfully pointed things out. I'd feel a lil...

    Load Development - What Range?

That would never be my choice

    Load Development - What Range?

If a gun won’t group at 25yds, it’s better used to beat fence posts in with it or get rid of it. If I can’t shoot well enough to group at 25yds it’s time to quit shooting.

    Load Development - What Range?

It depends on the muzzleloader; With a sidelock & iron sights I will dial in one hole groups at 50yds then move to 100yds. With scoped inlines I dial in one hole groups at 100yds.

    Revolver percussion caps

I've been told & read the same thing regarding slightly pinching the #11 caps to use on my ROA's #10 nipple. I haven't done that - yet, bc I still have around 60-70 #10 caps left. I can't find any more in stores & I'm NOT payin out the wahzoo for them online. So, I'll be pinchin some #11's very...

    Should I get a .40?

The Gibbs is my dream gun by far over any other traditional ML. Both the .45 & .40, how I only can wish I'd have been exposed to them when I was much younger & could have afforded to buy both. I'd still be shooting them today, prob more so than any other guns I have.

    Should I get a .40?

I'm in agreeance with the sentiment that you don't " need an excuse " to get a new gun or anything else. If its something you can afford & will enjoy, by all means - get one! Of, whatever it is. But when it comes down to " what will you gain, if anything " by getting a .40 for roundball...

opinion needed, best all around muzzleloader!

The Gibbs would be #1 on my list by far with maybe a Sharps at #2

I was wondering about that myself bc I’ve had powder & primers delivered in the same order too.
