    HOW RURAL IS RURAL?

I am living on 6 acres & you can't see a neighbor in any direction except at night. You spot light showing here n there. I have 20-30 deer on my place at any time day or night. Groundhogs tree rats several coons & couple of Bob cats. Yotes & i shoot them on sight. Couple-three foxes. Lots of...

    Considering a .40 caliber

I find the .40 to be an outstanding rifle caliber in ML;s. The one i shot the most is my Southern Poor Boy Jack Gardner built me in 79. Cockran percussion lock/XX Douglas bbl. 42" long double set triggers. I used 30-35 gr under a prb. .015 patch .395 dia ball. Tree rats/Masked Bandits & such...

    Recommendations for .40 RB..

It's hard to recommend a certain size. My bore is .398, i use a .395 ball & .015 patch. It loads easy, .020 loads very hard. The .018 maybe the best. I just have not sought out that patch thickness material. The groove on mine is .418

YES! A.40 cal. Flinter can Kill!

.40 caliber is under rated, prb certainly will take deer & hogs with good shot placement. Shooting a conical makes it a slobber knocker on game. Mine will shoot 280 gr pure lead well enough to hit palm sized target dot at a hundred yards.

    To go left-handed or not

I am a south paw, all my life i have shot R Handed guns. Hot cap fragments wear a glove & long sleeve. You sure can do it.

    Thompson Center Bought from S&W

Just a real opinion here, to have an 1700 era rifle/trade rifle. Almost all of the parts are not correct today. Talking about making them with materials available during 17th century.

    Only one gun allowed!

I voted none of the above, reason i am not into that position. Doubt i will ever be. I have a love affair with my small bore rifles, rock sparker or caps don't matter i love them both. I don't really need a smoothbore, i sure think they are nice to have. I don't hunt any winged game.
