Stopping power of the 1860 Colt

I use 30gr of 777. Now Im gonna have to go out and chony the 1860. I figured it was around a 38 special to 45ACP. But the 45 is twice the weight.

    leather pants drying out need

Out here in the Pacific North Wet, it may rain a day or two. The only time folks wear buckskins here is in the dead of summer, when they are way to hot. My boots on the other hand are tanned elk hide uppers. Gottem in 92 and Ive used mink oil on them since then. They still supple are all...

Running While Reloading Flintlocks - a necessary survival technique...

Every time I take my 1860 Colt to the range some yahoo has to tell me Im using it dangerously. Tho Im using it exactly the way the 1866 order of arms book says to. So running and loading HAS to be unsafe. Think Ill try in this summer.

Regarding the Adams double-action vs. the Colt single-action

Me has had single action my whole life. I have a modern single/double action 45. I still use it single action. My brain just cant get the idea to just pull the trigger.

Daniel Boone TV Series on MeTV

Watched Dan'l, Davey, and Jim Bowie on TV. The ole man allowed it, but said after every show. Them black powder guns are useless toys. In 61 they sold Davey Crockett knives. They were mail order and my folks would not let me have one. Dixie still sells gen 4 knives (made in India). It took me...

    Original 58 Remington

I learned from pawn stars the other day that replacing the cones devalues the firearm. Are them the originals?

    Bore Seasoning

So let me get this right. For those that remove their barrels and clean them with very hot water and soap. You all just put the rifle away with nothing coating the barrel? It may not be a thing NOW, but it was in decades past.

    Pedersoli vs Traditions or …

I despise production guns. They are a pig in a poke. Some get really nice ones, some get trash. I got trash. You best be ready to make caps, they are very hard to find and stupid prices. You first gun might be a capper, but your last one will be a flintlock. Stay a head of the game and go...

Stopping power of the 1860 Army

I use only round ball and 30gr of 777. I get the same speeds between a 38 special and a 45ACP.

First try at a 17th C priming flask

That is one heck of a contraption. Where did you get the design? Here is my Rev War British warrant pan charger. Sure wish some one would make these, they work flawlessly. I found this one in a bin at Dixie Gun Works in the early 90s and have not seen one since.
