    The "Unbreakable Ram Rod"

Dang I could have had all that fun, and I bought mine :-( For those that might go this way. I would suggest going to your local 2 cycle chainsaw place and seeing if they have any line trimmer rods. They are flexible and have ridges on them so the glue will stick better.

    New to flints

Ive had one production lock, and one Jim chambers lock. I can never go back to a production lock. Find a lock smith in your hood and have them tune it. Check the spring pull weights so they are not to much for the lock to handle. If you had shot a Kibler before your got the production gun...

    Different calibers different bags

Being I only have one flintlock, I only need one bag. But the unmentionable's have a reloading field bag for each caliber. The 1860 colt has its own bag also. Being it and the rifle are the same caliber, but use different stuff.

    Dial Calipers

About 20 years ago I bought 3 of Harbor freight's calibers. (imported) I am using the first one I took out of the box, the other two are in a box of tools somewhere, still in their original packaging. One thing I did learn is to remove the battery after use. They seem to die a lot faster when...

Nitrating paper ..besides hurting stupid takes time!

My question is why go thru all that hassle. I use Raw ciggy papers, the are thinner than coffee filters and Ive not had one go off, with no residue that cant be blown out in an instant..

    Teflon as a patch lube?

Oh this is so cheating, I love it. I have LSA from the 70s that has teflon in it. Been lubing with it (modern) since the 70s. My question is where does one get sheets of this?

Risks of measuring your charge with the spout/suggested charges? (percussion pistol)

I also would go with 20gr. Right in the middle of the chart and if your using your finger over the end of the measurer then your not going to get all 20gr in there any way. I only have a 44 and I use a 30gr spout, with a guitar pick over the end to get an exact amount. I get al 30 grains.

    T/C 1000+ Replacement?

No and NO Petroleum oils turn the black powder to sludge. No one wants sludge. Barrel seasoning is a thing. Back in the day you would take your barrel into the shower and get it so hot and scrub it with soap and water. After you are done you "season" the bore with butter to keep the raw metal...

How long before a touch hole needs replaced ?

I would say when the hole gets too big, thats when I would change it. Mine has been in since 2005 and I shoot several hundred rounds a year.

    Sight question for older shooters

I made this in 2005, see how far up the rear sight is. The Gent who's shop I used to build this had a way of sighting in for you. He has a flat board he puts on a fence post, then lays the rifle on it. I sighted down the barrel until the rear sight was crystal clear. All these years later and I...

    Silly question about powder charges

What you need to do is find the maximum powder your barrel can burn, then work down to find the most accurate load. The Davenport Formula does just that. find it and use it. Powder costs a lot these days

    T/C 1000+ Replacement?

Still for sale all over the place. T/C does not say they dont make it, they say they are out of it. A lot of that going around these days. Had me worried for a minute, and I have half a dozen tubes already. Be looking for more next month. At the trade fair.

    Help me choose a kit?

Locks: As far as I care there are two. Chambers and L&R. Both high quality, the difference is the Chambers has to return home to be repaired, or yo wait for parts. L&R you can get parts all over the place. My Chamber's lock was tuned by ole man R of L&R. Barrels: I like the longer the better...
