    Random Observations on revolver shooting

Stan, good tests. Do you see any evidence of peening / coining yet on the recoil shield?

    Happiness is,,,,,

Nothing better for shooting from horseback than an 1860. It’s been said that the elongated grip was made with that in mind. Shoots darn well just standing on the ground, too. (But, hell fire, I love them all.)

Shooting the 44 caliber CVA revolver pistol.......

Were you there, Johnny? Sounds like you know all about that.

Grease packing revolver internals, why synthetic grease?

Put some regular petro gun oil on the arbor and see how long you can shoot. It won’t be for long.

Wedge Issue: Any pointers for getting the wedge out of a Pietta 1851 Navy for the first time.

I have found that the best surface upon which to place the gun when removing the wedge is my lap. Use a small resin mallet with a shaped piece of wood and Bob’s yer uncle.

Shooting the 44 caliber CVA revolver pistol.......

Clean the threads and use a little anti-seize on the cones and save a wrench. Be nice to the bore and use a wooden dowel to clear squibs.

Convince me not to buy this 1860 old silver army

What Bighorse said. And ... Don't seat caps with the hammer, that's spergy.

People overestimate how often percussion revolvers were reloaded...

I don't get it, dude. That's unintelligible. Are you OK? What does that even mean?

Differences between Pietta 8" 1860 Army Blued Steel Revolvers???

Call Midway and talk things over. Advertising is, more often than not, quite misleading. Ad copy editors usually don't know nothin bout guns. Call them.

People overestimate how often percussion revolvers were reloaded...

I prefer my cap & ballers to be in percussion, the way Sam Colt and the Lord intended.

Differences between Pietta 8" 1860 Army Blued Steel Revolvers???

The backstrap in the first pic appears to be in the white or silver plate or something. Not blue, anyway.
