Cimarron 1860 "McCulloch Colt" or antiquing a 1860 Army Uberti

It's aged, the grips are supposed to be beat up.

    That will do nicely!

There's another one in there too, I'll have to look for it.

I thought it was pretty funny. Saved me a lot of typing. :p

    Walker holster ideas

I make my Walker/Dragoon holsters just like the rest. I also carry them just like the rest. I don't know why people make a big deal out of it. Use a wide, heavy gun belt and they carry just fine.

Holster question. Forward or rearward facing butt?

Butt forward, either cross draw or twist draw.

Cimarron 1860 "McCulloch Colt" or antiquing a 1860 Army Uberti

I can understand that. I got the fluted version a few months ago to have converted to cartridge but saved the fluted cylinder for future use.

Some Eye Candy : Cimarron 1860 "McCulloch Colt" Anyone Else?

Uberti does a really good job with their antique finish. I have several of them but they're all cartridge guns. Here's a Pietta I antiqued and I can tell you it's a lot easier to buy the factory aged gun.

Cimarron 1860 "McCulloch Colt" or antiquing a 1860 Army Uberti

Whether you get the Cimarron "original finish" or the Uberti "old west" finish, it's the same thing. You can easily strip the gun. That's the easy part but it's a lot of work to replicate their aged finish. Here's one with the factory antique finish for $489...

    Slim Jim for the 1858

Walnut with an aged finish. Got some nice wrinkles out of this one.

    Calvary holster pattern?

It's not that difficult to draw up your own patterns. I've drawn up patterns from a picture in a book or magazine. Once you know how a holster is supposed to fit, most the rest is stylistic.

No, that one was done for a customer.

    Californian for the Walker

It's been a slow year for leatherwork, I've only finished one holster this year before now. Here's a Californian for the Walker.

    Pietta .44 navy?

Tranter. Had a guy that wanted me to make him a holster for one but it never materialized.

    Pietta .44 navy?

Good Lord, the things people get hung up on. Whining about Navy .44's not being period correct while you drive to the square range in your Honda??? I like my Navy .44's better than my Navy .36's. Big bore, octagon barrel, who wouldn't? Only sad that an egotistical, wannabe gunsmith ruined my...

    To the older guys…

You can't even do that any more. Now everything must ship 'from' an FFL.

I'm 49 but have no heirs. Not 100% sure what to do with them.

    Wire bolt/trigger spring

You're arguing against points I never made. Awfully defensive. Off topic anyway.
