    1861 Uberti Navy Civilian

No one was as surprised as I was. I think he normally does good work but when he doesn't, it doesn't go so well.

Uberti vs Pietta, Not the same old, same old.....This could be news.

And "CNC" is not a guarantee of anything. I think people assume it means more than it does. It still depends on how the machines are operated, how well they're maintained and how often the cutters are changed. Both Uberti and USFA are/were manufactured using CNC machinery, to very different...

    1861 Uberti Navy Civilian

Gary Barnes ruined a gun of mine a few months ago with a botched conversion. Not only did he refuse to fix it but he treated me like an idiot for bringing the issues to his attention and slandered me online. Enter at your own risk. Send it to Goon's instead.

Uberti vs Pietta, Not the same old, same old.....This could be news.

My wife taught the same things. She left grad school something like 12hrs short of a PhD in history. I never miss an opportunity to correct little Miss Perfect. I like to live on the edge! :D

Uberti vs Pietta, Not the same old, same old.....This could be news.

Going around the internet correcting bad grammar, poor punctuation and pitiful spelling would be a thankless full time job with no profit or end in sight. Can't imagine a bigger waste of time. I proof read, edit and just try to be a good example.

Uberti vs Pietta, Not the same old, same old.....This could be news.

I find no merit to the story the dealer told. Typical gun shop myth & legend. Both Uberti and Pietta have improved their products immensely over the last decade. I've bought twelve Uberti and Pietta guns in just the last year with fifty in total. The newest guns are the nicest. Cimarron is not...

    Uberti Navy and Pocket Police.

I've always loved the sleek barrel contours of the Colt 1860/1861 and the Pocket Police models. Thought I was going to scratch the 1862 Pocket Police itch with the Cimarron .380 conversion but it turned out to be a dud. A couple months ago I found them on sale at Midway so I snagged a 5.5"...

    Aging fake ivory grips ??

Who said any thing about mammoth? There's no harm to elephants for ivory grips either. They've been dead for 30yrs, or at least they were prior to the idiotic 2016 interstate ban.

Rogers & Spencer .44 Army: Possibly the Best Civil War Revolver

I very much like them but if I'm gonna get in a gunfight, I'd rather have a Colt.

    Aging fake ivory grips ??

I wrote an article about this, click here: Ivory I've got just about every substitute available and several sets of the real thing. Clockwise from top left, Arizona Custom Grips' Magnatusk is just an ivory colored polymer with "aging" painted on. Next is antique linear paper micarta. IMHO, no...

    Aging fake ivory grips ??

TruIvory is beautiful stuff but BarS is now defunct. Really sad, it was the best substitute.

Let's see some Leather Gear for those cap and ballers

At some point along the way, three things happened. I stopped caring about whether or not my "rig" was all matching colors, I developed a distaste for undyed "russet" tan leather and leather goods with no stamping, tooling or other forms of decoration. I have yet to do one without at least a...

Colt 1860 Vs Remington New Model

The ATF can't do that. Those regulations are all codified in federal law.

Colt 1860 Vs Remington New Model

I'd buy two Uberti's and send them to Turnbull before I spent $1250 on a 2nd or 3rd generation Colt percussion gun.

    Questions on the Kibler Colonial

It's an alcohol based dye. Just wipe it on and let it dry. I dilute it 3:1 for leather work but not for wood. I haven't tried it on maple but it would probably be real nice.

    Questions on the Kibler Colonial

This is a dormant thread but I wanted to add my two cents for future posterity. I built a cherry stocked Colonial at the NMLRA class at Bowling Green a few years ago. I chose cherry because I wanted it red. I used a Fiebings "dark brown" leather dye, which has a lot of red content. I love the...

    So many idiots on YouTube

I've got a bunch of channels that I watch all the time but haven't really found a dedicated BP channel that rings my bell. "Plowboysghost" is the most recent I've found that I really enjoy. That's one of the things that grates on my nerves every time.

Colt 1860 Vs Remington New Model

No angst at all. Unless it's a Ruger New Model or double action revolver, drag lines are from mishandling, not use. The bolt should rise into the leede and if it doesn't, you have timing issues that need to be corrected. Never lower the hammer from the half cock notch and all will be right with...
