    WANTED Breeches

Sorry for the delay. I have been preparing for cataract surgery, and today was the day for the surgery. I will only have one good eye for the next 2 weeks or longer (it takes 4 weeks to completely heal). I will give you a call in a few days to discuss your wants and needs. Such as what weight of...

    Smith Carbines?

I can get 40 grains of black powder into a black plastic cartridge by using a paper patched round ball. Accuracy is much better with my slow twist factory barrel. I am not sure what twist Bobby Hoyt puts into his barrel liners.

    SOLD Euroarms Flintlock Kentucky Pistol

I am holding the flintlock pistol for GA Ranger pending receiving the funds. As to the size of the round ball I do not know as I have never shot this pistol, just scratched a few sparks. It has been a safe queen for the last 7 years.

    Smith Carbines?

I purchased a Pietta Smith Carbine from Dixie Gun works back in 2012, and love shooting it. No problems or surprises. The only surprise I found in shooting was that it shot a paper patched round ball. 500 more accurately than my .515 RCBS cast bullet. This replica has a slow 1 turn in 60 twist...

    Kansas Folks

Greetings Kansas Jake. I am from Topeka (Big Bend in the River). I also belong to the Overbrook, Ks club, but prefer to shoot alone these days. Just plain fed up.

    Cabela's 54 Cal Hawken

If your Invest Arms Hawken needs to strike the cap more than once, it is a problem with the spring.Pull the lock and put more load on the spring.Otherwise great shooting rifles.

    triple 7 in rifled musket

The vinegar is used as a neutralizer in the cleaning process followed by more hot water and cleaning solution. vinegar is washed out completely, then bore wipped dry and a liberal coating of gun oil applied to the barrel. When sulpher is burned and moisture gets to it, then it becomes sulphuric...

    .530 or .535?

My barrel seems to like 65 grains of Triple 7 with a cotton ball between the powder and patched ball.

.54 Green Mountain at the range

I am waiting for Green Mountain to restart production on their 54 cal drop in barrels around the first of the year. I am wanting a slow twist barrel with their .010 deep cut rifling. TC has rather shallow rifling and soots up quicker.

Caps don't seat on Lyman nipples

I think I will order Treso nipples for my Italian rifles. Treso nipples have less of a taper like the original percussion firearms did.

    Lee REAL bullet

I have experimented with the 58 Lee REAL bullet and found it works best in a barrel intended for a .575 minnie in an Italian cut barrel. If your rifle is a progressive depth rifling like the originals or a Parker Hale it wont perform as well. I prefer to use a felt wad between the powder and...

    triple 7 in rifled musket

Yes pyrodex contains sulfer and the barrel needs to be cleaned with a liberal application of vinegar as well. This neutralizes the acid formed from burning pyrodex. Hodgdons has recommended the use of vinegar in the past. I prefer to use Pyrodex select in my Smith Carbine.

    .530 or .535?

I prefer the .535 in my Investarms Cabelas so called hawken rifle. It seems to shoot tighter groups from the bench at 100 yards. Could be less wuggle room in the barrel when fired.

    Euro Arms Enfield

I own and have shot a 2 band Euroarms enfield for about 6 years now. I like the deeper cut to the rifling over the other Italian maker. It is a little heavier, but I bought it to shoot not reenact. I am very pleased with it, and have no plans to replace it with a newer pedersoli make.

    New Zoli Zouave

With the right minnie ball size it can be ammazinly accurate, and lots of fun to shoot long distance with. I use my 61 (Armi Sport) Springfield to shoot out to 300 yards at steel plates.
