Those articles on tuning the Pietta are great. I did a similar job on the short arbor on my Walker. You can see what I did in this post.

Well said Zonie. Like Juice Jaws, I do that kind of stuff myself all the time, but not everyone does. And it is not a drop in part as you state, it must be fitted, and timing will be off if not done properly.
Yes, I get the green eye of envy on this site all the time looking at some of the wonderful hand made masterpieces some of the members make! I watched all those great old shows as well!
Your welcome. That article on the caps and nipple was a real eye opener for me. I had no idea that two #10 caps from different makers would not be even close to the same dimensions prior to reading that article. Love the SlixShot nipples on my Walker! And they look cool too being SS.
Good luck. Let us know what you find out for sure! Since I have a Pietta 1851 Navy that functions as it should. If I ever have the same trouble with it your experience may be of help. Here is a picture of my Pietta 1851.
You don't mention if the revolver does this uncapped/unloaded, or only when capped? Most common cause in a capped revolver is part of a fired cap falling into hammer slot in the frame and jamming the works up. if the revolver rotates/indexes correctly, and the bolt locks at each chamber with...
Wow, what a beauty! Probably worth it too considering the nice wood box and accoutrements! Not something you find every day. A bit of a rare bird I'd say!
Welcome from west central Ohio my Hoosier friend. I'm fairly new on the forum as well. Just started muzzle loading. Got the fever bad now! I hope to make a trip to Friendship one day.
This picture was really a test of uploading a file picture from my MacBook Pro. It worked. Can't copy & paste for some reason though. Always get a security message?
Welcome to the forum. It is my favorite place to hang out. I’ve learned so much since joining. Been shooting my whole life, I’ll be 66 April 6. Just getting into muzzle loading in a serious way though.
Lots of Brits here, all very knowledgeable and helpful. Some shoot almost daily...
Nice job of polishing on the brass on your revolvers Zonie. Or is that just from use? I have been unable to cut and paste pictures in my posts. I always get an error message saying "security alert" or something like that, it says to reload the page and try again, but I just keep getting the...
I have one. It is a brass frame as well. Never shot it. I have other "shooters" in my collection. Not a fan of shooting the brass framed ones. The '61 is a Colt 2nd Gen Signature Series. I have the SlixShot nipples on my Uberti Walker and like them a lot!
The Walker is a shooter!
Thanks, been busy, we had two funerals in the family recently. Wife has been ill. Just busy, busy! Good to be missed though. Hey, keeping me straight, and out of trouble is a full time job ya know!
Good for you Crow Beads! It was a great price for the kit, and you had already done most all the metal work. I'm glad you found a new home for the kit. I was very tempted, but my hands are still sore from the polishing I was doing on my Charleville pan he other day. I'm getting very...
Yeah, me too. The top tray area isn't water resistant, and I'm not really sure the bottom is water tight. I keep my stuff in the spare upstairs bedroom, always the warmest, and driest room in the house.
