New Muzzleloader Shooter Hold Over Question

I have a 47 inch barrel and and my sloppy groups are about 4 inches high using 60 grains on a 50cal rifled 1 in 70 twist at 25 yards. I have not yet shot at 50 or 100 yards. I may have that zeroed in at 75 goal, time will tell.

To you builders who practice the art of engraving.

Good questions, I am going to start with the brass, but hope to try steel too. Starting with a brass patch box. Then maybe the lock plate

I have purchased this book and tools in the hopes of engraving the patch box on my Kentucky long rifle. Did you find the learning curve difficult? What were your experiences trying to master this art?

Reshaped the trigger guard on kentucky pistol

I to own a Traditions Kentucky pistol. I love the look and performance. My first round down the barrel was pushed by 50 grains of 3F. She jumped 2 feet in the air. And I have no idea where the ball hit. I know it wasn’t the target. I now use 25-30 grains and she doesn’t beat the c***out of me :)...

I am new to flintlocks, and am using Schuetzen. It seems to be working well for me. But reading all these happy posts on Goex, I think I need a pound or two just to see what all the buzz is about

    Bending a barrel

I would think bending as in gunsmithing would be to “ true” the bore. I saw a myth busters where they bent a barrel. The round dissentagraded on fireing

    Unloaded muzzleloader at the range?

I have not found myself needing to transport a charged and loaded muzzleloader. I live in Florida, and if I have this right, a muzzleloader is considered unloaded if it lacks an ignition source. It can be transported and stored as an unloaded weapon. I’m not sure it’s a great idea, but ML is...
