Controlling color and shade on fancy maple

When I ordered my Colonial, I also asked for a practice piece of fancy maple to test my carving and staining abilities. To that end, I just ordered a sample kit of aniline dye - alcohol based wood stain from Keda Dye stain powder. One shot on their web site sold me on experimenting with these...

    Proper luster of metal parts?

I am following all threads about the Kibler Colonial. I have placed my order, extra fancy maple! Hope to have it by Christmas. I think of my muzzleloaders as performance art. I use too much Tru Oil, the stocks just gleam! And I keep the brass as polished as I know how. I went over the barrels...

I purchased 2 cleaning kits from Traditions. The one with the 3 piece brass ram rod, I converted an off the shelf ball starter by replacing both starters. The kits smaller of two brass ball pushers replacing the short aluminum starter it came with. I used 1 of my 6 ramrod sections with the...

Any of you guys ever use one of these?

Many thanks to all you guys! Deep, deep pool of knowledge and experience here. I will use my recoil reduction pad with my Pedersoli Kentucky, I love her curved buttstock, her backside just don’t love me back. I have no pride, and like Snake said: no prize for pain.
