Anyone used 45 conical on deer?

Here's one of several mulie bucks I've taken with a T/C Seneca .45 and T/C maxi-hunter in front of 70 gr of 2f Goex and another of a bighorn ewe with the same rifle/maxi-hunter in front of 75 gr of Goex 2f....works fine!

    SOLD Thompson Center Seneca .45

.45 Seneca with stock shortened as show. It has a pull of about 12 1/4" compared to the normal 13 3/4" (see 1st picture - top rifle above the un-modified Seneca below which is not for sale). I picked this up years ago as is for a back-up rifle, but only shot it once. It shot prb fine, but I...

    The TC New Englander

I have one in .54 that is also 1:48 and it shoots maxiballs pretty well. I've never tried round balls in it, but I'm sure I could work up a load for them too. It's taken 1 cow elk. I also have a 12 ga barrel with choke tubes for it that works really well for chukars and quail.

Two Kibler SMR’s on the way!

I think I'm getting really close to ordering a .45 with the extra curly maple too. Would love to see a picture when you get it!

Actually, no that's the way it came. It does seem to be done pretty well.

SOLD Lyman GPR .54 Flint Kit + Extras

I bought this kit several years ago but just never got around to finishing it. I'm including a pineapple patchbox kit from TOW that I had intended to inlet into the stock. Also, I had picked up a couple of spare touchhole liners that I'll throw in too. $500 + shipping.

    Favourite muzzleloader kill

Bighorn ewe I got in November, 2019 in the Clemans Mountain unit. I managed to get to within about 45 yards of a small group and took this one with my .45 Seneca and home cast maxi-hunter in front of 75gr of Goex 2f. Another fun solo hunt!

    TC White Mountain Carbine

Nice little rifles. The first muzzleloader I got when I started shooting them again in 2002. I found a brand new .54 at a local sporting goods store that I bought for $159. As others have said, the .54's had a 1:48 twist and the .50's had a faster twist, 1:20 or 1:32. Mine served me well for...

    Washington Bighorn

I actually started putting in for sheep and mountain goats in 1972 and drew a goat tag the first year. It took me until 2014 to draw my ram tag and though I hunted for several days with my .62 T/C Hawken, I ended up taking one with a .270. I continued to put in for ewes and drew in 2019....It...

TC New Englander with screw in chokes.

I use punched felt wads and bore butter with another felt wad or thin card overshot. Mine seems to pattern fine out to about 30 yds with the modified tube. I've only hunted upland though, not turkeys. I'm betting the felt wads would work through a tighter tube though maybe not as tight a...

    Washington Bighorn

Ewe, that is....:) I haven't visited this site in quite a while, so I thought I'd post up a picture of the bighorn ewe I got in November, 2019 in the Clemans Mountain unit. I managed to get to within about 45 yards of a small group and took this one with my .45 Seneca and home cast maxi-hunter...

    New Englander..

You'll love it. I have one with .54 and 12 ga barrels. I've taken 1 cow elk and 1 whitetail doe with the .54 barrel and numerous chukars and quail with the 12 ga barrel. It's a pretty versatile gun!

    t/c englander smooth bore

They come up often enough, but you have to jump on them. I have a 12 ga that I got in really great condition and I found a brand new .54 barrel for it too. I've taken one cow elk and quite a few chukars and quail with it. They are petty nice guns and one that I probably won't let go of any...

anyone get out on the last days

Upland finished today, but I had to work. I did get out after chukars with Lilly and the New Englander yesterday. Lilly's going to be 11 this spring, but she still has the heart, nose, and about 3/4 of her legs!
