    1st time using Paper Cartridges.

I hate to admit it, but I go in and out of being in love with muzzle loading, there are times, when it seems like a lot of mess and kit, and I find myself thinking, bolt action .22 some rounds in my pocket, a knife and I'm rabbit hunting. . . . . I don't even have to clean the rifle after. . . ...

You could, like I did, keep the powder cartridge and projectile separate, that way you can use your felt wade and still remove the step of measuring powder from the field (and instead roll your own at home) 🙂

    Little Adjustments

Really like the idea of a stone to do the finish work. 👍

    Little Adjustments

First, for those of you who got it backwards, don't feel bad. I have been at the range more than once holding a file in my hand staring off in space trying to be sure I file the front sight to bring point of aim up. As to filing the rear sight . . . this is my rear sight So for me, as I get...

    1st time using Paper Cartridges.

I remember as a kid we bought bull durham and papers trying to "roll a smoke" one handed like a real Cowboy. . . I guess I'm better at rolling cartridges but not by much, sure do feel fumble fingered with that tiny 1/2 sheet of cigarette paper in my big old paws.

    Little Adjustments

Getting set for fall, I replaced my rear sight, in the hope I could gain 5-10 more yards with my Flinter .54 cal ESR, added a Davide Pedersoli rear sight. . .but now my front sight is too low, so I'm rough fitting a new cast brass sight to see if that will fix me back up...

    1st time using Paper Cartridges.

My involvement in sidearms is simply to make my wife happy. You shoot ONE Bear at 40 yards with a .54 cal flintlock back in 2015. . . .and Mr. Bear doesn't die right away, and all the sudden your wife thinks you should have a back up gun, rather than standing there trying to reload while a vary...

Ok 1st, no throwing rocks!!! But I'll take the name calling. . . . . . Yes!!! You are seeing a picatinny rail on my Underhammer 😳 I wanted a M/L for night hunting Hogs 🤷‍♂️ Anyway the Minies Shot great at 25 yards with 40 grains of FFFG, Shot a bit low at 50 yards, I then tried bumping up...

    Help with 50 cal Minie

I have a "Summer" Lube that is something like 5 parts bees wax, 2 parts Coconut Oil, 1 part Bear Fat. . . . it holds together into the 90s without melting away. I just lubed 10 up with that. . . . hope to give them a go tomorrow 🤞🏻

    Help with 50 cal Minie

Well I have a 50 cal underhammer Rifle that is a bit of a safe queen. Then I got a miss order of Rush Creek 50 Cal Minie from track of the wolf. . . . and they said, "our mistake, don't send them back, just keep them" :thumb: So now I'm thinking my Underhammer needs to try out Minies...

    1st time using Paper Cartridges.

I'm using the Elmer's stick glue, the one for kids that goes on pink and dries clear (recommended with the kit) to answer, no I have not done tests, I am thinking about keeping track on cylinders and shooting 3 with paper cartridges 3 hand loading. . . shoot maybe 3 rounds from each and see if...

    1st time using Paper Cartridges.

Shot 10 Conicals today. I even got a little video. . . but these 13-14 hour work days are killing me. . . . .Editing will have to wait, I need 🛌💤

    1st time using Paper Cartridges.

In my Old Army I went with 30 grains of Triple Seven (Because I have 3/4 of a pound and don't use it in anything else) With Ball and wad. I am in hopes that the same powder load will work for 220 grain Conical.

    1st time using Paper Cartridges.

I went with this kit Paper Cartridge Kits It's fine. . .not great. My Blue Collar hands have a hard time making the tube part, the end cap works well with the tool they provided. I used the cigarette paper they provided, all 9 went off like the paper wasn't there. I might well switch things...

    1st time using Paper Cartridges.

I started playing around with making my own paper cartridges. I forgot to get photos before I shot them all (except the one I manhandled and broke 😕) Hence 9 shots not 10. There was a 10-15 mile per hour wind. . . Not sure how much the group being wider than tall was affected by the wind, and...

    frozen game question

I would do the thawing when I had a whole day. Keep checking to be sure to get to it as soon as it is JUST thawed enough to work with. (Still has ice crystals) If your hands don't hurt from the cold. . . .you let it thaw too much. 1- it grinds better 2- Bear fat can and will go off fast in...
