    The Baltimore antique firearms show

Went to the Baltimore antique firearms show yesterday and saw some interesting weapons. Approximate 5 wheel lock guns and several matchlocks. The first photo shows a matchlock with an interesting device that looks like it holds the matchcord along the side of the stock. Perhaps someone here...

    Voyageur Flask Review

I like the idea of a piece of leather in the cap. My cap fits well and snugs at the the bottom. The only thing is there is a seam on the cap that lines up with the seam on the tube to get that good fit. Overall i have been very happy with it.

Jay, i looked at the hemp rope it looks like it would tend to unravel as its burned as it is not braided. You have no issues with that? Thanks Tom

    Voyageur Flask Review

I will add that the cap is a friction fit over the spout and the copper chain gets attached to the rope sling of your choice. I guess one could use the cap as a powder measure too. I wonder who bought the other one maybe they could chime in here with their thoughts on it. I see a nice linstock...

Just got back from the Artisan show in Carlisle PA. Great show. Picked up a copper voyager powder flask from Goose Bay workshops booth. I have seen this online and thought about getting one for my matchlocks and early flintlocks. There were two at the display. Some other rope burner bought the...

To bend your barrel or not that is the question?

A question for those who have bent their successfully. Did it significantly change how the barrel fit back into the stock? Any problems with getting the barrel pins back in on a full stocked gun?

Minie Skirt stuck in barrel of 1861 Springfield

I would agree with using a rod to carefully tap the side of the skirt. I have had and heard of bore brushes getting stuck in muzzleloaders and would advise against using that method.

    Drop tube for loading

Looks like you don't need a drop tube. Nice shooting.

    Drop tube for loading

I have read the long distance black powder shooters use the drop tube because it delivers the charge cleanly to the breach area. Without it a few grains of powder could possibly adhere to the oils and fowling on the way down in the rifling. Yes the patched ball would push that down but those...
