    Got Lucky This Morning

Congratulations! Our season comes in this Saturday. I hope to have the same luck as you. I load my .62 very much like you. Only differance is I use 70 grains of ffg powder. That has worked on my last eight gobblers.

    Finished Woodsrunner

PathfinderNC, very nicely done. SeaRun1, I have both the SMR in .45 and the Woodsrunner in .54. For a hunting gun I love the Woodsrunner, for a trailwalk gun and paper shooting gun I like the .45 SMR. The reason for this is the set triggers. I am a little more accurate with them. I am...

    Is the Woodsrunner that easy?

I agree, this is the easiest kit to assemble on the market. Well worth the money.

    Clay Smith Trade Gun Build

I purchased the type G trade gun from Clay Smith several years ago and got the same Davis lock as you. After using it for a year and having trouble with misfires, always seemed to be when there was a nice gobbler in front of me, I took it to Brad Emig. After he worked on it I have had no...

    .45 cal deer load

60 gr. of 3fg powder is plenty in a 45 cal to kill deer. A friend of mine killed 3 deer here in PA with his .45 cal Kibler SMR this year using 50 gr. of Goex 3fg. Get your accuracy load at 50 gr. or more and hunt with that. My Kibler SMR likes .445 RB with .015 patch over 70 grains of Swiss...

    SOLD Kibler Woodsrunner Kit

Congrats to Percy, he got a fine kit. I have one in .54 cal. and thought a .50 in Cherry would be great.

    Sourcing 4F

I ordered from Grafs recently and saw they had a delay in shipping. I was delighted when my order came in 4 days. They are a good company to deal with.

Ordered a Clay Smith Trade Gun kit

You will like Clay Smith's gun. I built one a few years back. At the time he was using Colerain barrels. I got mine with a 36 inch barrel and a back sight because I wanted a shorter gun for turkey hunting. It has worked out well. In fact, I am taking it out with my dog squirrel hunting this...

    .20 smoothbore for turkey

jtkerk, I use 70 grains of ffg powder, over powder wad, cushion wad, 1 1/8oz. of #6 lead shot, over shot card. Pretty much a standard load. I did have my 36 inch Colrain barrel jug choked by Lowell Tennyson. My patterns out of this barrel, with the above load are under 20 inches at 30 yards...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I went to the 18th Century Artisans Show in Carlisle, PA. It is a great event with lots of quality vendors. I bought parts for another build when I get the one I am working on now finished. Got to stay ahead of the game.

    .20 smoothbore for turkey

That sure is a beautiful gun. I agree hanshi, it needs no apology. I killed my last 7 Spring gobblers with a 20ga. smoothbore flintlock that I built, but it sure does not look that good.

    After the Kibler Kits

I have all 3 of Jim Kiblers guns. I have a Colonial in .54, a Woodsrunner in .54, and two SMR's, one in .45 and one in .36. As for weights, Colonial is 9lbs. 4oz., the Woodsrunner and the .36 SMR are 7lbs. 8oz., and the .45 SMR weighs 6lbs. 9oz. They are all very nice shooting, but the...

    Cabin fever and bad decisions

We are going to a woods walk shoot tomorrow and the temps are to be around 32 degrees. That is ok because it is NOT to be snowing or raining. I don't like to shoot when the temp is below freezing with snow and blowing wind. I guess I am getting soft in my old age, or maybe a little wiser.

    Barrel length decision help

I think you will like the decision on the 38" barrel. I have a Kibler Colonial with a 43 1/4" barrel and a Woodsrunner with a 39" barrel and like the shorter barrel. Also have a Yorktown with a 38" barrel on the bench now. I do have two SMR's with 46" barrels and are a lot too long for me in...
