    Open tops are just sexy

Have a reproduction 1861 New Army w/ fully fluted cylinder. Have been around and used cap & ball revolvers for many years, Remingtons, Confederate Colts, etc. Absolutely love them. Mostly, I've carried them as self-defense weapons and never felt under armed or at a disadvantage to cartridge...

    1st chain fire

Have fired hundreds of rounds from Colt and Remington reproduction pistols, never had a chain fire. It's not luck, it's paying attention to the loading process. Though somewhat time consuming, I always wipe the cylinder face, then lube the chambers, or use pre-lubed patches. It's not like I...

People overestimate how often percussion revolvers were reloaded...

Could be that the driver awaiting road service is either elderly, disabled or both and cannot change a tire. I am 74 and disabled. That's what AAA is for.

    Loading revolvers question.

Have been shooting C&B revolvers for over 40 years. Have heard of ring-fires, even saw the results of one, once. Not a pretty sight. Never had one. (Knock on wood!) Greetings from Texas

Joined this forum, mainly because was researching a rifle used in a Daniel Boone episode. (I'm kind of nosy, that way.) Everything I found said it was a Ferguson, It Wasn't. Used to deer hunt with a muzzleloader and do some target shooting, but not so much anymore for health and age reasons...

Daniel Boone TV Show's Take With a Ferguson Rifle Theme

Know that perhaps this reply is a bit dated, but in Daniel Boone S4 E6, The Imposter, the rifle used was not a Ferguson. Ferguson rifles did not have tilting, tip-up breeches. On the Ferguson, the trigger guard rotated lowering a screw-plug, giving access to the breech. You loaded a patched...
