Can you get 3 aimed shots a minute?

For a few years I was NRA certified to instruct muzzleloader rifle classes. For your own safety it is advisable to wait at least one minute before poring black powder down the barrel. This allows time for any remaining ember to die. I think it far better that an ember die than you and...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I've had trouble getting percussion caps on the nipple to my underhammer rifle. The fit was too tight, but too loose on two spare nipples . So yesterday I chucked it in my drill press, then filed & sanded material. I goofed and reduced the diameter too much on it, so robbed the nipple from my...

    finished my SMR

Doesn't it feel great to finish your build? Look real nice! I know my plain stock functions well but viewing the figure on your stock makes me consider making a new stock for my rifle. When I worked up a load for my 50 caliber percussion cap underhammer I tried loads in 5 grain increments...

    No Answers shoots an underhammer

You probably know this already so don't be offended that I suggest this. Use a bench rest to find your pattern at 25 yards, then move sights accordingly until it is on your target center. Then try different loads until you determine what provides the smallest group. The work now will make for...

    Comments on this wheelock?

I viewed all the photos and it is interesting but seems odd to me that the shoulder rest is convex rather than concave.

Congratulations on winning medals. You wrote it shoots really well, but YOU must shoot really well also. I put a lot of rounds through mine from a bench to work up a very tight pattern. It puts the ball exactly where I'm aiming when it fires, which might not be exactly where I wanted to be...

    Bullet Traps & Target Stand

Looks like those will last a long time. I've seen similar on trails that have drag chains underneath to more quickly stop the targets from swinging.

    The Old H&A Underhammer Pistol

The figure on your stock is amazing. I built a 50 caliber Hopkins & Allen underhammer rifle from a kit. It is accurate but the stock is very plain.

Years ago I built a 50 caliber Hopkins & Allen underhammer rifle from a kit, which replaced the Hawkins I had. I have satisfaction that I finished it from an "in the white kit", and It's fun to shoot something that is unique.
