    Bucket-list doves

    First trip of the year... Quite calm evening...hoping for more wind later in the week. Found a good roost near thick pine grove..it was loaded with doves. Set up on a flight path. Did the flour-butter-heat recipe to medium rare..pure heaven! Can't wait for tomorrow! First doves with a flint...

    Rice Barrel back log.

    Muzzleloading barrel makers are mostly one man operation.. Colrain is the only exception I know of. Think cottage industy...one man 3-400 barrels a year maybe? Plan ahead....or buy exsisting..used if nessesary.

    12 hrs. 50 minutes.... 842 short miles for me and I'll be back :grin: side note..buffalo skull with hole...brains removed for tanning. The museum has plenty of rifles for those interested.

    More eye candy we took the audio tour...and enjoyed the visit..lots of "How they did it " They had a short film on the French Voyagers..doing their thing...Those guys were animals...

    40 caliber good?

    Both patched...But I would use a sligthly smaller ball for the second one(top) to allow the air forced down while loading to escape. These loads require both balls to be touching before ignition. Don't ask me how I know this! :headslap: Can you say shortened barrel?

    Brad what information are you looking for?? be specific! type of guns? type of loading components? what loads we use? Non-Toxic shot that works best is not cheap! Give us more detail..we maybe able to help? what gun do plan on using..? what type of ignition? choked or non choked bore? what...

    Geo T..Swiss gives higher velocity per volume measure compared to Goex. I average 10-15 % drop in volume per load using Swiss for the same poi. Night and day difference comparing Goex to Swiss. Others are shooting Goex OE and reporting higher velocities compared Standard Goex...This I do not...

    Gm barrels are rifled deeper than the t/C's Pour a bore slug..and go from there... why guess? or hit the easy button... If you cant pour lead..other option..lube your bore...find a 12" rod just under bore size..drop it down your bore tap an over sized round ball in to the muzzle(think wood...

    Had been using the black english from Track of the wolf. Switched to the the Honey colored french From Troy at Stone wall creek Found them to be better sized more consistent. Tell Troy what your looking for and he will hand pick them. Caps are running 5-6 bucks a tin of 100 here... Paying 2-250...
