    A question of possible rust

When I’m finishing my walnut fowler stock, should I be treating the parts of the stock covered by metal any differently? For instance, under the lock and barrel channel. Thanks, dc

    I messed up a barrel.

For an ad on question, when you’re done browning do you finish the barrel with Wax or linseed. I used boiled linseed on the two I’ve done but am looking for ideas. Thanks, dc

Is a 40 round ball sufficient for deer hunting?

I once looked up the rifles of Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett. They used 36 & 38 I think. That was more normal in the East and those small bores killed lots of game. Make it part of your woodsmanship to get in close and scout the woods for a good set up. Double lung will do the job.

That patch doesn’t bother me a bit. So maybe I’m fretting too much on mine. I’ll probably have it aged a bit my first time in the woods anyway, haha!

    covering mistakes

Which brings me to the next question I didn't know I had. Do I fill in the holes that were drilled in the right places once the barrel is in or do I keep it so I can remove the barrel? thanks dwc

    covering mistakes

Hi folks, working on a walnut stock Pa Fowler. When I started this 15 years ago I drilled a few extra holes right next to the right spots. Now that I’m back on the project I’m wondering how to best fill these mistakes. With a maple stock I could use round tooth picks, but what about walnut...

    My first flintlock build

Hi folks, after 15 years away I’m getting back to my PA fowler project. I didn’t get a muzzle cap and I’m wondering if I should get one. I have iron furniture, should muzzle cap also be iron? Thanks! Dc

Buy used or have one made

Gobler’s Knob is the true home of Punxsutawny Phil, so that might be Western PA.
