    2024/2025 Squirrel Hunting Thread...........

Ed, I have to admit that at least on my property, I am known and expected to hunt squirrels from one of my trees stands..., if it's good enough for deer why not squirrels? After all, we spend countless hours seeing probably hundreds more squirrels during archery season than we do deer. :)...

    2024/2025 Squirrel Hunting Thread...........

Just adjust the height of the legs on the poles. For most squirrel hunting the bi-pod is plenty and you can easily get them set up for pretty high angle shots. Obviously depends on the angle of slope you are sitting or standing on. The Cascade poles are really light, and if you are using one...

PA Conical vs 54 RB Advice

I recently began shooting the PA Conical in a PA Hunter carbine (1:66). I have found that with equal loads of 70 grains of Swiss 3F that the RB and Conical give similar accuracy at 50 yards. The Conical is obviously hitting lower but not so much that I could not swap between them and do a...

    2024/2025 Squirrel Hunting Thread...........

Adding to the blasphemy of shooting sticks... A few ideas for you all to consider. I picked up a pair of Cascade trekking poles from Amazon last year, under $50. Then I bought two sets of the Wiser Precision adapters ($37 each currently). I only needed one set to create a bi-pod but opted...

Best way to get rifle up in deer stand?

This........ have two of them and should have four or five and no need for other 'gear'. Works great from center fire to ML... Third Hand Tree Stand Gun Hoist The last thing you need is a rope to break, a sling stud to pull out or whatever non-sense is bound to happen. This is the best thing...

    Barrel twist for deer hunting

I found a T/C White Mountain fast-twist flintlock barrel and put it on a factory-second stock that I had finished. It is a Hawken version which I hacked off the fore-end cap and sort of gave it a Renegade look. Two reasons for that: the wood was split near the top left end of the barrel...

    What's wrong with this doe?

Very old doe OR a very old antler-less buck? Her raised left leg/hip also makes her look heavier just by the angle and position of the muscle.

SOLD Nice Thompson Center Renegade 50 Cal

This is a Renegade "Hunter". I've had a couple in the past. Single trigger, wide guard such as the PA Hunter. Safe to assume same trigger/guard assembly. Still a Renegade thru and thru.

    How to polish this sideplate

Dremel: IF you use one, lowest speed setting to start. The smaller the piece, the slower the Dremel should turn. A little of the polishing compound goes a very very long way so take it all slow and under-dose if anything.

    2024/2025 Squirrel Hunting Thread...........

Hard to tell him apart until he acts up. Four and five at a time there and only 25 yards from my ladder stand. He was at it again last night, just too funny. The doves and other squirrels used to scurry off earlier this year, now they tolerate his antics for the most part.

    2024/2025 Squirrel Hunting Thread...........

Just had to post this for Ed, specifically. This little guy was having a lot of fun all summer and he's still a bit wound up at times. Once I switch from archery deer to squirrel season, I am definitely going to be careful to not shoot him. Too many silly videos of him to post but this is a...

Recovered bullet pixs, lets see em!

.50 Round ball. 25 yard shot, in behind the left shoulder breaking a rib. Found under the skin after busting through the right shoulder. *edit: lost 1.... One grain weight.

    anti-gun USPS

I ship barrels and stocks, sometimes in the same box. I have never had an issue with dozens of shipments with USPS. UPS is a pain in the ass and requires you go to a shipment center which are few and far between. Mainly liability for their franchise store fronts. Stuff happens but not...

    2024/2025 Squirrel Hunting Thread...........

Ed, I would send those pics to the state geological office or local college. My first impression was that you've got some fossilized bone and the composition of that "rock" makes for good potential.

opinions of best twist rate for 45

Plinking or hunting deer? I get good accuracy from 40, better from 50, and best at 60 grains. For hunting out to 50 yards or so, which would be typical for a lot of my hunting spots, I decided on 60g.

opinions of best twist rate for 45

I have a 45 cal TC Seneca that is 1:56 and I'm finding that it shoots round balls better than I do. Finally figured out the best load combination and it's doing great. 60g 3F Swiss and an Ox-Yoke .018 patch for 50 cal... bigger cal patch is clearly better than a 45 sized patch.... that was the...

    CLOSED TC Seneca Rear Sight

Big "Thank you" to the two members who reached out. Definitely better than buying parted-out pieces from eBay when possible. Going to close this as I will be able to acquire one from you kind folks.

    CLOSED TC Seneca Rear Sight

Looking for a compatible rear sight for a TC Seneca/Cherokee. My windage screw is stripped, curses on that underside, non-visible lock screw I found out about too late. My SN is 15,000 series so I figure 1st edition, possibly 2nd but seems like 1st based on some research I've done.
