    Cleaning .36 Seneca

I also do the hot water with an old deep sauce pan. No additives. I patch clean first to get the easy stuff out then do the pan. For a TC you need the rounded scrapper in the event you decide you want one.

    Good deer hunting load

ETipp: I shot a doe with one of those 'things' two years ago. 90 yards, 250 grain pointed jacket... slight down and quarter to me angle. Dropped her on the spot. Took out both lungs and the rib that was hit going in broke her spine, which is why she dropped. Had that buck I mentioned missed...

    Good deer hunting load

To add thoughts on the target animal... Size. Even in whitetails, matters. Angle matters. State of the animal matters. Just a few of the factors. The button buck I shot this year, slight quartering away, was rib-rib-upper leg bone all shattered, no exit at 25 yards. Had that been a mature...

TC .50 Caliber Hawken, Renegade and New Englander 1:48 shooters..........

I would agree based on my four barrels. I have tried 15s, 18s and 20s and they just don't load easy nor shoot as well. Every barrel is unique and I would guess that over 100s/1000s of shots, that preference for a 10 may turn into a 12 or 15. If I were telling someone new to the game what...

TC .50 Caliber Hawken, Renegade and New Englander 1:48 shooters..........

My Renegade .50 flint, 1991, likes round balls (.490/.010 patch) and 75 grains of 2F. It dislikes, rather aggressively, anything pointed or elongated. PA conicals, Maxi-ball, Maxi-hunter, and jacketed stuff have all been refused like an angry two-year being being told 'No'. My percussion .50...

Patch lube for round ball shooting..........Lawdy.

You are all going to hate on me for this... haha but these are three shots from my Pedersoli Scout flint .50 with quick loaders that were 10 months old. Instead of breaking them down I wanted to see how they would shoot. This is 25 yards. the left most hole is shot #1 so that's on me not the...

    Investarms

I have not found confirmation of this that I can recall, but from every angle that I have seen an Invest vs a TC, the invest looks to be a direct 99.99% copy of a TC Renegade (most models), right down to the scrolling on the lock plates. Does anyone actually know the back story there?

PA flintlock late season flintlock hunters

Not going to quote myself but back to post #18 if you've not read from the start. Summary: A knockdown at 25 ish yards was not an easy track job and had there not been snow over heavily traveled and I mean cattle-path like trails, finding my deer this year would have been a nightmare. So...

Pennsylvania Hunters Q&A on Weapon regulations

No need for "Hope". Only facts :) You are good to go based as the above image is the current posted regulation. I could scan the same from the guide laying next to me. If unplugged shotguns are legal there is no way to argue against a double-barrel muzzle-loader.

    Good deer hunting load

To Steve's point in post #24 Anecdotal experience: I took a button buck this year with a .50 ball and 60 grains 3F at just under 25 yards. The ball broke the near side rib, both lungs, far rib and upper right front leg bone and was found between meat and hide. 177 grain ball to start and 176.2...

    Pedersoli Scout Flintlock

I am going to bandwagon the positive on Pederoli as well. I have a Scout in .50 and yes, the lock is small. Buy good flints sized for it. I have never had a misfire or any failure to get good sparks in well over 100 shots from it. It is the fastest, most sure lock I have. I wish my TCs were...

PA flintlock late season flintlock hunters

January 9, 7:00 AM. 25 yards. Lancaster County. Thank the red gods it snowed overnight. Nice button buck, we have/had five on the property all year so being the only opportunity I'd had since early archery... Pedesoli Scout in .50 with 60gr 3F, .490 round ball and .010 patch. It's a great...

WANTED that kit you have and can't get around to finishing.

Deerstalkert, or anyone that may be interested, I just received some T/C Hawken stocks. I bought a number from an eb seller who conveniently 'forgot' so show a number of them that are wholly ruined. After settling up with them, I have a few nice stocks . There are five that I would say are...

How to get dull finish browning a barrel ?

Pics below are of a Pedersoli Scout .50 that I did in early 2021. My method was using Laurel Mountain. I very lightly sanded at 400 grit and should have done more/longer. I used a hairdryer to warm the barrel and applied the LM. I plugged the bore with a wooden dowl wrapped in electrical...

Thompson Center Arms .50 caliber Renegade

First time posting, LONG time lurker :) Also, long time auction hound. I recently bought a like-new Renegade percussion in .54 thru an on-line auction. $210 and with buyer's premium and shipping, delivered for about $270 (I also got a percussion PA Hunter for $300 in the same auction...
