    Hunt for Arrowheads

I hesitate to do this, but here’s a poem I wrote on the subject, published last fall in an issue of Gray’s Sporting Journal.

    Kibler's next gun?

A jug choke option on the Kibler fowler would be the icing on the cake.

Polishing fine details on brass hardware

What’s the best method for polishing the really fine details on brass fittings, like the tiny wedding bands on the ends of ramrod pipes? I picked up a set of the small detail sanders, and they work great for areas like the flats on the thimbles, but even these fine tools seem too big for these...

    Kibler's next gun?

My vote would be for a fowler.

    Hunt for Arrowheads

I’ve spent hundreds of hours walking farm fields for artifacts, but most of my finds have been accidental. About twenty years ago I was planting a new asparagus patch and I had excavated a one foot deep trench in which to bury the roots. I had several wheelbarrow loads of dirt in a pile beside...

SOLD T/C Seneca .45 PRICE DROP

    SOLD pending funds.

SOLD T/C Seneca .45 PRICE DROP

New price $495 shipped in the lower 47. If it doesn’t sell at this price I will regretfully part it out on eBay.

SOLD T/C Seneca .45 PRICE DROP

If I remember correctly, the Seneca had a 1 in 48” twist, which T/C used for a lot of its muzzleloaders. This twist rate seemed to work well for both round balls and conicals.

SOLD T/C Seneca .45 PRICE DROP

    Factory. Not a kit.

SOLD T/C Seneca .45 PRICE DROP

Selling a very clean Thompson Center Seneca .45 caliber. Double trigger, brass hardware and patchbox, new nipple, original sights. Very nice bore. No stock cracks, scope mount holes or other bad surprises. The only condition issues are: 1) the brass ramrod tip is buggered up, and 2) there is...

    Progress on my Kibler Woodsrunner

My Woodsrunner arrived last month, and I’ve been working on it as time allows. It’s a .54 with a fancy maple stock. So far, it’s been virtually problem free, aside from a little trouble getting the patch box lid properly fitted. The wood to metal fit on all the parts is amazingly close—better...

    Shot patterns

I took advantage of the sale Kibler is running ($100 off for the Colonial with no patchbox) and ordered a smoothbore 58 last night. I hope to duplicate your results in the spring of ’24. Thanks for the encouragement.

Nice job! What caliber is your smoothbore?

    First black powder gobbler

I’ve killed a lot of turkeys in the last 40 years, but I had never taken one with a muzzleloader until this morning. I’ve been patterning my 12 gauge T/C New Englander in preparation for this spring’s Michigan turkey season. It’s a fixed improved cylinder model and I did a lot of load testing...

    Shot patterns

Impressive. Thanks for your efforts in posting the results. This 58 is a legitimate turkey gun. Makes me wonder what it would do with #6 shot. You’ve cost me a lot of money with this post; looks like I’ll be ordering another Kibler. Can I ask who did your jug choke? And the approximate cost...

    One I’ll remember

Great hunt and great photos! I’d be interested in hearing about your load and how the 58 patterns. I’ve thought hard about building a similar Colonial for turkey hunting. I’ll be out on Saturday for the Michigan opener armed with my T/C New Englander. Next year my goal is to take one with a...

    Beaver's

I’ve lived in the same rural area in south central Michigan all my life (I’m 65). Only in the last three years have beavers been present. Their numbers are increasing year to year, to the point where it’s no longer even noteworthy to see one. Same for river otters; until recently, they were...
