Coning done to Parker Hale Volunteer Rifle

Neither do I. That's like what happens when you wear out the crown with a cleaning rod. A sharp crown is critical for shooting bullets as opposed to balls.

Long bar sight for a Kibler SMR

Yes, that's pretty much what I had in mind.

A Tale of Two 1861 Enfield Musketoons

I ended up dovetailing my barrel and made a sight to fit. As delivered it was about two feet off at 100 yards, now it's hitting center though I still haven't gotten the accuracy out of it I would like. A work in progress.

    Epoxy Can Be Cured

The hardest part of that would be making a fixture to hold the cylinder to do the mill work, though it probably wouldn't be too tough if you used a rotary table. You'd want to use a roughing cutter to get the holes round and in the right place, then finish ream. Otherwise I don't see that it...

Long bar sight for a Kibler SMR

After coming to the realization that my eyes aren't getting any younger, I've been thinking about ways to keep shooting my SMR with reasonably good effect. I think a peep sight would be a big improvement, but what is the best way to proceed? I could make one that attaches with the tang screw...

    .375 prb's out of a .40?

I just got my 40 shooting for the first time this morning. I suppose I'll have to try that eventually and see what happens. Can't hurt anything, probably even the target.

This simple idea was and still is genius.

A buddy of mine in NM built one that looks very similar. I don't think he had seen anything like it before, just thought it would be fun and had a big chunk of brass and a milling machine. With a Unertl on top it was a very effective rifle out to 600M or more.

    TC Seneca

Not that I have ever seen. Would be pretty neat though.

    Replica Remington Police model?

I've been hoping for years that somebody would make those. Of course if Ruger did a percussion Bearcat I might be happy with that as well.

What are your favorite Thompson Center (T/C) Percussion guns?

Amazing, your gun collection looks a whole lot like mine. Nice selection!

    How do you prime?

March 2024. I'm not personally worried too much about it exploding, but I am tired of the valve sticking and getting powder all inside my bag or pocket. They worked great when I lived in NM but here in WV they corrode and stick open.

    How do you prime?

It's in March 2024. "Black powder part IV, accidental ignition in personal use".

What are your favorite Thompson Center (T/C) Percussion guns?

Either the .32 Cherokee or the Renegade flintlock 58 that Bob Hoyt rebored from a 54 caliber rusted barrel.

    T/C Seneca .45

It seems high but considering what everything is bringing these days it's probably right in line as long as it's in good shape.

    How do you prime?

I have a few of those brass primer doohickeys but they get stuck due to the humidity so I don't use them much any more. After reading the recent article in Muzzleblasts about those accidentally exploding I think I'll take the suggestion and use a little plastic bottle with a flip open spout. I...

Rarest mzloading item in the world right now

It took a while to learn and fine tune the process, but now it's 1/2 hour to make up the prime mix and load up 65 caps. I have also learned that I can take my forming dies and arbor press to work and punch them out when we're not busy doing real work so that it a big help as well. I used to use...

Goex Powder from Moosic PA Plant

I have a few of those cans myself. The cans are kind of neat but the powder is pretty bad compared to what we can buy now at a much higher price.

    Birmingham Arms rifle

Yes, I have a Parker Hale 1861. The point of my post was asking if anyone has ever heard of the rifles he is selling? It looks really fake to me but maybe there is a new manufacturer out there. Link to the auction (if that is allowed) https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1043588538

    Birmingham Arms rifle

On Gunbroker I see a Enfield rifle listed, as Birmingham Arms 1861. It's a P53 with a rifled bore, English type proof marks, and very poor lock stamping. The seller says it's not Indian made but it's certainly not English or old. And he wants quite a high price for it. I'd not seen one quite...
