    Cap Priming Compound

FA42 is the same chemicals as FA48 but without the ground glass. It's not needed. This site has everything you need to start making primers or caps: https://aardvarkreloading.com/

    Cap Priming Compound

Amazon is your friend here also. I also use FA-42, for the price of one primeall kit you can buy enough supplies for a lifetime of shooting.

What doesn't work as patch lube?

The synthetic mink oil they sell for conditioning your boots. Terrible patch lube.

Krist percussion cylinder for Ruger old army

Are these strictly a replacement or do they have added capacity like the ones that used to be available about 10 years ago?

How many caps do you use in a year ?

Probably 500 or so. Most of them I make myself.

    Caps Redux

At least RWS caps are starting to show up on the online vendor's sites. They're pricy but way less than the $50/tin ones on Gunbroker.

    Just returned from the range

    A 36 caliber 1860? That's different. Is that a new Pietta thing like the 44 caliber 1851?

    Bore/barrel size

Hi over here Sandro! I know it's safe, TC says so. But that is still a very light rifle to be loading up very heavy. I certainly would not want one in 50 caliber. It is, however, very nice to carry all day chasing after deer.

    Bore/barrel size

I don't know but my TC Cherokee 45 caliber kind of gets me nervous when the charges get too big. I don't think I'd want that rifle to be a 50 caliber. But I do understand that the factory has tested them and says they work so I'll trust that. They have 13/16" barrels.

Converting a percussion to a flintlock

I have a TC Renegade here that I converted from percussion to flint. I had to make a new patent breech plug with the hook on the back, and fit everything up. It was fun and came out very nice, but unless you have a lathe and milling machine as well as a good way to finish steel, it's not...

    A muzzle loading assault rifle

    Hilarious! And would actually work.

    Making Percussion Caps

Cutting the cans into strips and folding them over to double works for me. Also I use one tablespoon of acetone with three drops of Duco. It doesn't take much.

    Euroarms Remington info needed

I don't know a huge amount about them but I have one just like it and have been shooting it for many years. Never had a problem, it seems to be a nice well made revolver. I did make a new front sight for it to get it to hit where it is aimed. Otherwise it's all stock and works great.

    Thompson Center Percussion rifle

New Englander. It has a round barrel and is marked 50 caliber. Acraglas epoxy, the runny type, blown into the crack and clamped. Redo the finish and you'll never know it was broken.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Also made a bunch of caps today, as well as 100 paper cartridges for the '63 Sharps. And got a batch of "antique muzzleloader propellant" running in the mill. RRidgely52, I finally figured out if I put the empty caps in one of the little trays that CCI SP primers come in they are easy to fill...

Developing a load for my T/C Seneca 45 cal.

I haven't shot any conicals through mine but did find that it is a whole lot more accurate with .445" balls than it is with .440" ones. And 60 grains of powder was plenty, more than that and it got much less accurate. No, I take that back. I have shot the Lyman 45 caliber Minie' bullets in it...

Fun range day with my S & B

You can certainly see where Bill Ruger got his design for the Old Army latch and rammer.

Pretty sure Track Of The Wolf has those.

    Ballistic Products

I just bought a jar of buckshot from them, didn't seem to take an unusual amount of time. They are a reputable source for sure.
