    Shooting Damascus Barreled Smoothies

I have an Original 12 ga. English double that is a joy to shoot and has almost perfect bores. I hunt small game regularly with it. I also have a 13 ga. English double that is decent, but bore is really thin only about .025" thick at muzzles. And was missing a piece of wood (Splint) off at top of...

    Kinda weird elk hunt

What I find is you have to look at the regulations on each area. Fed land here is closed to all motorized vehicles. State owned lands that have pedal bike or walking or horseback trails are open for only Class 2 e bikes No Class 3. Georgia State lands the same.

    Kinda weird elk hunt

Chorizo is right on. Hear in Virginia we have National Forest. And it is used by a lot of hunters that do not have excess to private lands. I find that gates that are supposed to be open for hunters are either open several weeks late or not at all. When I asked the Park Rangers about it, they...

    Homemade Squirrel Skinning Stand

I've used one and made several years ago for my son and a hunting buddy. Works well. You wanted to hit them in the head with anything other than #5 shot.

Traditional Pennsylvania hunt in the late season - anyone?

Man wish I could do that (Again). I was born and raised in southern Pa. I have killed 3 does with Flintlock and PRB back in the day. I moved away 30 years ago and have been blessed to hunt a lot of different states and areas with all kinds of weapons. I'm as proud of those deer as anything I...

Okay, this goes against the grain for me but....

Oh, Yea I was about 20 years old and just purchased one of the first Baker climber stands and drove to my dad's house to show him how well it worked. He had a Pole lamp beside the barn mounted on a Telephone pole that needed a bulb replaced. I shimmied up that pole replaced bulb and me and the...

    Wasps Nest?

Hello everyone, I hunt a lot with my SxS Double barrel original smoothbores. And this spring I noticed a Bald face Hornets' nest being built in my tractor shed (About the size if a Softball). So, I thought I'll leave it there and get larger than try this fall in my guns. Well, there are very...

    2023 Fall Squirrel Season...........

Nice Job and I'm glad you got out in the woods and put some squirrels in the pot. That being said I really love my 36 caliber for squirrel. But as I've gotten older and eyesight struggles with the dark canopy and my peep sight. I have a few SxS muzzleloader smooth bores one that really shines is...

    Lady Butterfly from Idaho

Another Welcome from Central Virginia. Wish we had a Rendezvous near here. We used to have one about 30 years ago 20 miles from my home on one of the large plantations. 2023 Fall Squirrel Season...........

I suppose we're showing our age now (I'm 64) But yes, I grew up in Southeastern PA. And always had mixed bag of Pheasant, rabbit, squirrel soaking in salt water in the frig. Mom cooked everything my brother and I brought home which include a duck or goose sometimes. Hey and we didn't have to use...

    Locks for my shotgun, again

Yes, Sir Tom you're on the right track. I purchased a 1870's Era 12 ga. double years ago that is not a collector's piece just a very good and usable gun that I hunt with a lot. Then I decided to save the old gun I'd buy a modern replica. I have a CVA 12ga double that shoots very well but the...
