CCI # 11 Magnum Cap Not Fitting

Caps were not under sized. It was a moisture issue during mfg and cci refunded the full amount. Case closed. This thread is officially closed to all discussion related to cap or nipple size as ordered by me on this day, as witnessed by me, hereto and henceforth.

    Elk hunting max range.

I’ve taken two elk and a Shiras moose with 54 cal round balls in the 80-95 yard range. One elk ran 50 yards or so turned and ran another 30 and tipped over dead. The other walked off and laid down in the open <100 yards and I walked up to it and put another round in it. First shot placement...

    Did you draw? Colorado

All youth get preference on all choices before they even start drawing for adults in the secondary draw. Only low demand hunts with lots of tags will make it to adults in most cases. Good luck though.

I’ve killed a couple elk with it. I have the lefty flintlock also.

    Did you draw? Colorado

Plenty of tags can be had in Colorado and Wyoming with 0-1 points at reasonable base license cost with millions of acres of public land for DIY hunts. Nebraska has a full month muzzleloader season with very cheap non resident tags and some solid public land if a guy wants to put in a little...

    Did you draw? Colorado

I think nuthatch is not talking about Colorado since he mentions blacktail. Colorado tip, always get the rifle bear tag if you can since you can hunt a longer season and still use a muzzleloader or you can use a rifle (or handgun) over the muzzleloader dates. Cost me a big black bear the...

    Did you draw? Colorado

Moose. Starting off with my 54 lefty Lyman GPR. Got a 4th rifle buck tag too. Cancelled my Wyoming deer app after drawing CO moose, and sitting out CO elk for the first time for the same reason.

CCI # 11 Magnum Cap Not Fitting

Just for clarification, I originally thought it was a fit issue but it has since been confirmed by CCI for my specific lot that it was a moisture issue in the bang bang material. The full response is above. I do expect to place a factory cap over a factory nipple, drop the hammer, and see...

    Thanks. Makes sense.

    Repairing escutcheon screw holes

Thanks. That looks like the solution. Originally, I wasn’t sure if I could just build up the area with one of the aforementioned products.

    Repairing escutcheon screw holes

Not sure that would be enough of a fix in this case. The hole is broken out slightly between it and the wedge key slot. Need some wood there too.

    Repairing escutcheon screw holes

I thought the same but I measured one. Assuming for flat head screws on TOTW the measurement includes the head to the tip.

    Repairing escutcheon screw holes

I recently acquired a 58 cal TC Renegade. Both screw holes for one escutcheon have small bits of material missing between the holes and the wedge key slot in the wood (not the escutcheon plate). The holes are a little bored out also. One screw was missing which means it probably fell out. I’m...

CCI # 11 Magnum Cap Not Fitting

Thanks. Already got the email to process the refund. Yea, I’ll be putting mine in a different container if the tins have holes.

CCI # 11 Magnum Cap Not Fitting

Ok fellars, I have the answer!! In lot number F16D301 association with #11 magnum caps, the following occurred: The tin manufacturer had an issue where they did not get full shellac coating on the upper rim of the tin above the ridge where the lid sits. This caused the chemical off gas from...
