    I own a sawmill company and I advise my customers to use anchor seal on the ends if they are not going to saw in the near future. It still lets the ends lose some moisture along with the log itself and keeps the ends from checkering as bad.

    Rough barn gun

    If the wood that your stock came from was kiln dried it will be okay. Once the moisture comes down to 6-9% the heat in the kiln is turned up to close the cells and kill any bugs and larvae.
