Thoughts on Kibler Woodsrunner vs Southern Mountain rifle.

I have SMRs in .32. .36 and .45 and a WR in .54. I love them all! I had never built a kit prior to my first Kibler last year and I started with the SMR. Watching Jim's videos was a great help but even so, it is so well machined that it all went together almost flawlessly (almost). The WR is...

    2024/2025 Squirrel Hunting Thread...........

I have that same combo and can confirm that it is very stable and pretty quick to assemble and you get the benefit of real trekking poles which work far better than either the telescoping bipod or tripod as a walking stick.

    J.M. Adcock ‘Bear Rifle’

Mike Adcock built me a custom left hand .62 cal percussion pistol grip Hawken in 1992 that I still have. It was named “Elk Rifle” and it lived up to its name on three occasions. Beautiful rifle, very accurate. Mike was a great guy to work with. You will likely get a great deal of enjoyment...

    First deer for my son

Thanks for sharing the photo and the story of you and your son's first deer. That brings back lots of memories for me and I suspect lots of other folks on here as well. I still remember all the details of that first successful deer hunt with my dad 62 years ago in the Guadalupe Mountains of...

Show N Tell your first MLer rifle

My first was/is a custom built left hand .62 cal percussion by Mike Adkins out of Arkansas, modeled after a Hawken that resides in the Firearms Museum in Cody, WY. That was in 1992 after I met make at one of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation camps. It is a great shooter that has accounted for...

    Gear List - Newbie - 2024

Check lists are a great thing to make. But they also tend to 'grow'. I know. I am a gear freak and love gadgets. In fact, I have boxes and boxes and boxes of them. But, I also for many years chased elk all across the Western US and Canada with a bow (and then black powder) and learned that...
