    How full should the pan be?

    I agree. Had a friend that was shooting beside me and had a bad delay fire consistantly. I checked his pan and it was completly full and his primer hole was just a little under the plane of the pan. After he backed it off to just under the hole, no delay.

    I always keep wiping till the sizzling stops. For me this gives a more consistent finish. I always rub it back though with steel wool so it doesn't have a solid rust appearance.     Lee doesn't make the mold for that size either any more.

    Tanner for sure if you want a special size. i've got 2 of his moulds. He'll make any size you want up to cannon balls :grin:

    Does anyone shoot a .525 ball out of their .54? I bought some .530 and they held a really good pattern with 15 thousands patches but it is really tight. I would like to load without a starter by down sizeing to the .525. Now the next question, how much accuracy do loose by being able to finger...

    It's a .54. 38" swamped. The fore arm have fluted ridges running the length. Still letting the finish cure then I'll nock the shiny down a bit with some denium.

    When should this take place? Before the clear coat or after. I am working with curly maple, aqua fortis and True oil finish.
